Best fight of 06- What do think?

I'd have to go with Nog-Barnett I. It was a back and forth war that made it to a decision that was as close as they come. You had Barnett dropping Nog, Nog mounting Barnett, Nog with a solid armbar attempt, and the match ending with Barnett locking a kneebar. Also, it was at the OWGP, the biggest event of the year IMO, so the match seemed even more important.

Diego-Karo was another great war that was non-stop action.

What do you think?

It's hard to remember all the fights I watched, but one that comes to mind is Wand/Fujita. I was out of my seat bouncing around during that fight.

Me too, on the number of fights I saw this year and being hard to recall. That Wand/Fujita was a good one, I remember the Hunt_Nishijima fight also and the best event this year, to me, I think was the Bushido in June.

Let me go look at at the Sherdog fight finder and think on this one.

Sylvia/Monson> tryptophan+melatonan+rem3

Oddly enough, that one didn't bore me that much. I was so into wanting to see Tmbo lose that it held my interest. Sylvia/Arlov III and Sylvia/Assuerio were way worse for me.

Hansen/Azerado was another good one.

Oh yeah, that was a great fight. Hansen is such an exciting fighter, kinda sucked to see him get subbed by Aoki, but that was slick as hell. You're right Sylvia/Arlovski III was worse than Sylvia/Monson, I remember having tired/bored tears in my eyes for the last 3 rounds. Assuerio/Sylvia sucked too, but I kept thinking Assuerio was on the verge of hurting Sylvia, just never happened.

Was Assuerio the fight where Sylvia had the alleged accident? I watched it but don't remember any indications of said problems. Is it just a rumor?

Yep, that is the fight.

For fight of the year, I would have to go with BJ/GSP. This fight happened early in the year, but it was a great fight that ended in controversy, can't wait for the rematch.

Ed Herman/Kendall Groves TUF3 4LIFE BIETCHES MFKINGPOWNAGE ALLDAY!!!

But seriously, I agree with Rodja. That was a great fight. BJ was dominating the striking and stuffing GSP's attempts early. GSP came back to get some nice takedowns, and a nice slam in the third I believe. Their rematch could be the best of '07 (if BJ doesn't gas). That and seeing CC LHK Sylvia.

Good call on GSP-BJ. Forgot that one. I really enjoyed Hughes-BJ II as well, although maybe not fight of the year caliber.

Lol Mullet.

Hansen/Azeredo gets my vote...

Nog/Barnett
Karo/Sanchez
Melendez/Kawajiri
Misaki/Kang

Wand/Fujita held the most entertainment value for me. maybe just excited to see Wandy return to the Axe Murderer.

Yeah I guess there are better all around fights, but seeing the Axe Murderer return was great, true form.

What event was this in? I'm going to have to buy the DVD.

I gotta go with Pete Sell vs Scott Smith, wow what a fight that was, and the last punch when Pete hit Scott so hard in the abs he doubled over in pain, Pete went in, then Scott put him down with a punch to the head...

The whole fight rocked!!!

Sorry, I was refering to Wand/Fujita
Pride Critical Countdown Absolute(06). It's probably not out yet, but you could get a bootleg on e-bay or watch a crappy version on Youtube. Really good event overall, plenty of good fights.

I'll just buy it when it comes out, i'm big into collecting MMA dvds, I own UFC 39-60 (59 and 60 are on preorder) and a whole bunch of pride along with some grapplers quests'.
