Best butter substitute?

I picked up a new margarine made form olive oil - no hydrogenated fats and no trans-fats, I forgot the name of it though..will post later tonight when I get home!

When the label says trans fat 0g, does that mean per serving or the content of the whole package?

And what if trans fats is less than 1g per serving, can the manufacturer legally labe it as 0g?
It is per serving, that is why they always put suggested serving portion to be as minute as possible

if it is less than .5gr per serving, they can label it as 0

if it is .5-less than 1 gr, they can label is as <1gr

Keto Butta/MCT Butter:
"[font=arial, helvetica]Caution: Do not take on an empty stomach. Do not use at high temperature or for deep fat frying because MCT boils at a lower temperature than typical fats and oils. See suggested use instructions"
Thus can't be use in baking, but probably will do for toast and spread

I'm not a fan of coconut flavor, but will probably try/look into it. Though it is not suggested to be used if it will reach 375F (prolong baking or high temp baking)
However, for spread and lower temp utility, this will do.

Anyone know what's best? I usually just go without or use olive oil, but there are some things that just aren't the same w/out a little butter. I've heard smart balance is good but I know very little about it. Is there really a healthy substitute that tastes as good as butter?
Eat the butter, it's better than any substitute and butter is healty. You need the fat.

ever tried Butter Buds? They are this butter sprinkle.... tastes so-so.. Howabout MollyMcButter sprinkles? they sell 'em in the seasoning section in the grocery store...

If your goal by avoiding butter is to avoid the cholesterol, I highly recommend a spread called “Earth Balance. It’s available in health food stores, trader joes and other upscale groceries. It’s typically found near the organic/heath foods, not always with the rest of the butters.

The reason I use it is that its pretty much the only margarine that genuinely has NO transfat. There are a bunch of margarines on the market that claim to have no transfat, but that is deceiving. If you read the ingredient list and see “Hydrogenated or “Partially Hydrogenated anywhere, it HAS transfat. They can get away with claiming no transfat because the FDA regulations say that if a particular item has less than .6g per serving, it can claim 0. They achieve this, partially by reducing serving size to fool consumers into thinking they are avoiding the stuff.

Anyway, Earth Balance tastes GREAT! The only downside is that you must keep it in the fridge to be a solid… it will turn to liquid if left out at room temp.

i dunno why you need to replace butter, for frying? or spreads?
for frying use canola- its flavourless to a point and good for you
the other seeds/nuts have weird flavours but if you like ethnic food seasme/peanut is good for veges

for spreads my kick ass spread is
1 tblespoon peanut putter- 4 drops of sucaryl, 1 pro shake(powder only)-bit of water to even out texture
spead over bread or low carb toritia(sp?) and its good-once a week treat thing
35 gms carbs 10gms efas 20gms pro(hence the bit of water to make it a texture)
its the perfect meal espec with choco whey- **** is better then nutella
