Beelze training log

Sammy Adams? I would have pegged you for a Pabst Blue Ribbon guy while eating chocolate bars with a fork.

Meh, you think you know somebody.

had to talk myself out of going to the gym today. two days of ample sleep and i'm charged up again, lol. by monday, it's going to be ugly.

You ever do pull-throughs bro? I f'in love em now, you should give them a shot if you haven't already, but you gym will have to have a heavy ass stack, i hit a PB of 300lbsx22 rp tonight, so i'm happy, especially with me only eating 200carbs and training natural, DC WHAT WHAT? lol

Oh and nice avatar your an animal.

I may not take the week off Monday, 'cause you and I off at the same time might result in some thread wars.. and yes,it would be ugly.. You have your chess after all.

300X22 pullthroughs? I didn't know Kettles got that big..
I think it's about time you put up a training log Chappy. You pretty much drop enough about yourself in other people's logs.. :D

Kettles? Nope pullthroughs with a cable, it's a powerlifiting type movement. And quiet u slut, lol. And ya i intend to start my own thread soon, u myself and Beelze will be able to push each other

going into the gym yesterday, i could feel that it was long overdue for some time off again. the symptoms have been there for about a week but i have been ignoring them, i.e. no appetite, can't sleep but always tired, unmotivated to hit the gym, everything is sore and achey, etc. so, i'll at least be off until monday. going to cut back on my # of meals so i can sleep in later and hopefully get rested up.

Ive found it more effective to drop one later in the day and go to bed earlier. I get more done during the day that way, and its not such a shock when you go back to blasting the weights and hammering the chow.

Jason

i would agree, but i work at the bar until 3am and my last meal is right around 230am so it doesn't effect anything, so sleeping in is the best option for me. either way, it hasn't worked too well. after 5.5 hours of sleep, i wake up without the alarm ready to roll. must have gotten used to it.

as for pullthroughs, never used em, and i'm sure the stack is nowhere near heavy enough.

as for the avatar, it was time for an update. ;)

PR city ;).... how do you achieve that much weight on the stack on cable rows? you hang plates off the pin? christ! Does someone stand on the stack? I can't fathom that ****.

My queen is chillin'.. try her out and you'll realize what kind of foul tempest she can be.

He probably just pins 45's to it my one gym's stack goes up to 300lbs and then has rubber weights that can bring it up to 320lbs.

And Beelze you noticed any new grow from the TUT sets?

it's a 300lbs stack, add a 45 and a 10, voila 355. and your queen is chilling simply because you're terrified to move it, lol.

chaps, actually yes. i weighed in at 270lbs this morning which was surprising to me considering i had to take my belt inward a notch more than usual for the past week. i haven't measured and i don't want to for a while, that sh!t messes with my head.

Looks like I am missing out on the circle jerk here. Those are some impressive numbers beelzebubz, keep it up and one day you will be nearly as strong as me.:bb2: :icon_lol: :bb:

Terrified? I'm trying to learn from captain stratego... I'm far from terrified... I already conceded I would lose a great many times until I learn to obliterate you... and that day will come..... eventually.

big boy diesel ATG squats, Leg presses and RDL's.

great stuff my friend.

yeah, you're still new to the game but you'll catch on. look on the bright side, the first game took 5 moves. you definately made it past that this time, lol.

What is the purpose of speed work? If you dont mind me asking, btw great log..

from dave tate:

Push the bar with maximal force. Whatever weight you're trying to push, be it 40% or 100% of your max, you must learn to apply 100% of the force to the barbell. If you can bench 500 pounds and are training with 300 pounds, you must then apply 500 pounds of force to the 300-pound barbell. This is known as compensatory acceleration and it can help you break through sticking points.

These sticking points are known as your "mini maxes," or the points at which you miss the lift or the barbell begins to slip out of the groove. Many times I'm asked what to do if the barbell gets stuck four to five inches off the chest. Everybody wants to know what exercise will help them strengthen this area or what body part is holding them back. Many times it isn't what you do to strengthen the area where it sticks, but what you can do to build more acceleration in the area before the mini max. If you can get the bar moving with more force then there won't be a sticking point. Instead, you'll blast right through it. Compensatory acceleration will help you do this.

take into account what Beelze just quoted from Dave Tate, and then look at his speed work with BB rows... makes you want to puke.

11/11 - chest/shoulders/tri's
first time working with bands, and it took about 4 warmup sets just to figure out what weight to use.

speed bench (ring finger on rings, with average band attached how some gigantic PL'er told me to do so)
(2) 135 x 5
(2) 185 x 5
(2) 205 x 5 (good weight with good speed, ~50%, band is supposedly 75lbs of resistance)

TUT 2/2 bench (index on rings)
245 x 10

speed hammer iso-wide - 460 x 5
TUT 2/2 hammer iso-wide - 370 x 10
speed military press - 245 x 10
TUT 2/2 military press - 155 x 12
speed lat raises - 60's x 10
TUT 2/2 lat raises - 35's x 12
speed CGBP smith - 325 x 13 (too light, 20lbs jump next time)
TUT 2/2 CGBP smith - 185 x 12
speed wide grip straight bar pressdowns - 260 x 10
TUT 2/2 wide grip straight bar pressdowns - 160 x 12

stretches for all.

So you do speed with everything? Never heard of that. You just go with ~50% or what? You should give chains a try too, I love those compared to bands, especially for squats.

sooner or later I'm going to have to jump on this bandwagon... this bandwagon of speed, chains, and rubber.

Bandwagon of speed, chains, and rubber... sounds right up Snuggle Club Alley.

How are you liking this in comparison to your Hybrid baby? Too early to tell?

Beelze, how did you attach the band? I get at least 50-70# out of my mini bands at the top. If you were using an average band for speed bench, there'd be a lot more that 75# of tension at the top.

I only want to be next to him because he makes me look drop dead pretty in comparison. :)

the way he told me was to loop two average bands together, center it underneath the bench at shoulder blade level, and attach each end to each side of the bar at the tip with an additional spring collar and 2.5lbs plate holding it in place. does that sound right?

50% on most things. the speed work makes it easier to lift heavy on a few lifts, like barbell rows for instance. we have chains too but they're only 20lbs each, not worth the trouble IMO.

too early. it's supposed to be more designed for size but the main thing i've noticed so far is an increased rate of strength gain. no complaints on this end.

yeah, like that's what you need.. an increased rate of strength gains.

pffft.

I like how it looks.. I may need to piggyback this one off you as well when I'm through with the DC phase.
