i know that casein is suppose to be da shizzznet when it comes to slower digesting proteins.

can you buy it straight and mix it? if not, what brand of already made protein powder is good?

Yep you can purchase straight micellar casein. The board sponsor AllTheWhey.com offers it.

One before bed protein powder that works great is Milk Protein Isolate. This is a slower digesting protein isolate that will keep your body anabolic all night, unlike quicker absorbing proteins. I get mine from Bulknutrition.com, pretty cheap price. Otherwise if you get some MRPs and take one before bed, you should do about the same(They have different levels of absorption... but it works pretty much as well)

allthewhey offers a few diffrent ones for nighttime but just a word of caution, there calcuim caseinate is really thick

will a nighttime casein whey protein blend have any effects on my ZMA because of the calcium it contains.

u will need too take the zma a hour or so before the shake and let it breakdown and then take the shake right before u hit the hay!

To make it mixable and drinkable, I had proteinfactory.com make me a batch of the following. Worked well. Took with Fish Oil & Flaxseed Oil to slow absorbtion.

Custom Formula - Night
Ingredients:
60% Aussie Caseinate
15% CFM Whey Isolate
25% Membrane Micellar Casein
Additive: Aminogen
Flavor: Orange
Sweetener: Splenda

Try eating a small bowl of cottage cheese and then have a shake with casein on top with the oils. That's what I do.

Sprinkle some splenda on the cottage cheese, mix it up, ready to go! easy to eat.

just another question here, i use muscle milk at night with good results, but how about straight up powdered milk protein? its cheap, its dried casein.
