Beau's Dermacrine Log

Rob was kind enough to provide me with the opportunity to log Dermacrine (I’ve used it I the past and really liked it). So, here is a bit about me, and what I am trying to accomplish.

After my last MD visit (Oct 2024) I decided to lose weight (now down about 15 to 17 lbs), increase musculature, and manage BP and cholesterol a bit better. Now, I am not one of those “high LDL is sure to lead to a heart attack” people, and after very slightly elevated LDL number in October, my MD wanted to put me on a statin. I am also not one of those “take a prescription med that will only to treat the symptoms” people, so I respectfully declined that suggestion. Among other things, this conclusion was based on a basic lipid panel, one that only measured total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. But there are several categories of LDL, and only small and small dense LDL are the ones most closely correlated with heart disease. While I am on my soap box, I believe the whole cholesterol speculation focuses on the wrong thing. I choose instead to look at factors (like processed carbs) that lead to inflammation and insulin resistance.

I told my MD that we could revisit the statin discussion after seeing the results of a Cardiac Advanced Lipid Panel and Inflammation Panel. That will take place on Monday.

So, I am down some weight (good) and intend on losing more. I have also been working out much more regularly and have really focused on cardio. On the weirder side, I have also been retraining my breathing style (it might be worthwhile to look at The Oxygen Advantage or The Breathing Cure). My goal is to get better sleep and to reduce blood pressure.

Ah, blood pressure – I am still on lisinopril (despite my claim that I am not one to take a prescription med that will only treat the symptoms). My goal (via weight loss, cardio and odd-looking breathing techniques) is to be able to discontinue lisinopril.

I am currently taking SNS VASO6, Cholesterol Support XT, Blood Pressure Support XT, Betaine (TMG), Alpha Lipoic Acid, supps to help reduce homocysteine, citrulline, and 5 or 6 gram s of fish oil per day..

I started Dermacrine on Tuesday, using two pumps applied at the clavicle area. Here are my subjective thoughts so far:
  • Increased overall sense of well-being/peace.
  • Much improved sleep (some suggest DHEA/Preg may do otherwise, but that isn’t my experience so far).
  • Sense of fighting spirit and libido – I realize that it is too early to make the claims, but I feel a greater sense of being who I used to be, if that makes sense. I’d love to see a huge spike in DHT (hair loss isn’t a concern).
  • Estrogen – that hasn’t been an issue, but so far – I don’t detect a difference.
After a week or so, I will increase the dosage (probably about 2 ½ pumps per day) and then re-assess.

thanks bud, looking forward to your feedback!

In on this for sure!

Here is a quick Sunday update. I have continued the protocol described above and, I have so say, I feel a greater spring to my step. I would describe that as an "alpha feel" but people normally assume that means being more of a jerk. It isn't that at all, in fact, I feel a greater sense of peace - its more like a greater sense of lets get to it - while also feeling feel more "equipt" to deal with things. I have also noticed that I seem to be sweating more when I work out.

Sleep - well, its been spotty. Some nights its good and restorative; other nights its not aso great (waking up after 4 or 5 hours - maybe its high cortisol.

BP has been very good.

Today, other than taking supps, I am fasting. Even still, I feel a sense of well-being.

Weight continues to drop, but not as quickly as I would prefer.

I have no of an increse in conversion to estrogen.

This is me as well. Some nights are good getting 7+ hours a night and other nights are bad getting 4-5 hours of sleep. Wish there was a switch that you could flip for sleeping.

After a few more days, I can say that the sense of well being continues. In addition, I feel more of a "I am here for a purpose" kind of feeling. That may not resonate with younger guys, but it may with those of us with a few more years.

After hitting sort of a plateau/slow down, weight loss wise I think the Dermacrine and fasting combination kicked in. I am down - and at a faster than recent pace.

I spend more time looking at my wife, so there is something going on there - too. Discretion is important when speaking of one's spouse (something that should always be positive).

Blood work done yesterday. So far only PSA results (very good). We will see how the rest of it goes.

Sleeping - better - sorta -ish.

In for this

I want to apologize for not updating recently.

After having Shingles, as an 18 year old, and then being vaccinated with Shingrix four years ago, I came down with Shingles a few weeks ago, and that stopped being able to apply anything transdermally. Once I am over this, I will update everyone.

For those of you who have never had Shingles, consider it a blessing.

oh man, so sorry to hear...I got it a number of years back. was incredibly painful!

I thought I got a rash on my bootie and it turns out to be shingles - was really thankful at the time that it wasn't on my face...my grandma had a shingles outbreak on the side of her face and she was miserable

IIRC stress is one of the major instigators of shingles

Good luck, and wishing you a speedy recovery!!! Let me know if there's anything I can do
