"1. first off there are no wild horses in America, all those so called wild horses he found were all actually from a farm
2. no one carries a flint everywhere they go unless they are expecting to get lost
3. I hate the fact that he uses the parachute for everything. who in the right mind would parachute in the middle of no where. Like the episode where he was in the arctic or somewhere cold, he used the parachute as a blanket, fishing line, safety line, hooks, and various other things. Thats a bunch of bull malarky."
1. Yes there are..all over the west in fact. They are wild decendants of horses that the Spanish brought over. They are protected by law on public lands.
2 and 3. From my perspective I always carry a source of fire (matches/lighter) whenever I go out into the field. I also usually carry a small tarp though I know some people who do actually carry the old style silk parachutes as they pack up super tight, are super strong and have about 1000 uses.
If you are in a position where you can get lost or stranded far from civilization..ie 4wheeling, treking, ..you tend to carry the necessary items and that's kinda where these shows are coming from. They're supposed to be from the perspective of an average person who's run into trouble when out in the boonies.
