We have no idea how many terror attacks the gov. has prevented. There have been sucesses. Ony we probably wont here about them.

I beg do differ.
The media is almost always pro government. That is why things like Farenheit 911 are so shocking. People arent used to hearing anything seriously wrong with the government.
 
I agree with yahoos statement....

I guess we will just respectully agree to disagree. Not a day goes by when I dont hear negative stories about the Governement, which is fine, freedom of the press is a wonderful thing.
I would not classify F911 as a "media" story. The maker of that movie is a notorious anti-Bush, anti-government, anti corporation fanatic.

I realize that i was slanted.... but i know that a large portion of it was true. But ya, he put some stupid stuff in there. btw, my views are quite different from michael moore's but i still admire his efforts.

but yes, agree to disagree. I respect your opinion.

I think Moore has done some interesting stuff. Bowling for Columbine neing one of them. F911 was too much for me. I heard he is doing another documentary on the health care industry, sending patients in undercover with hidden cameras and exposing the fraud that is our healthcare system. Im sure it will raise some eyebrows.
I know this is off topic, but just wanted share.
I respect everyones opinion on this matter, and Im sure this debate is happening all across America.

Im not a huge Bush fan myself, but I do have to agree here to some degree. Fahrenheit 911 was a sensasionalist movie, designed to make people uneasy and take notice about what their government was/is doing. However, like lifted mentioned, Michael Moore is a notorious left wing extremist, to think that he didnt use artistic liberties would be naieve.

If we had a president in the '90s who was actively pursuing terrorists, wiretapping suspected terrorist, and hunting them down, then 911 may not have happend. I dont blame Clinton, however, there were numerous terror attacks while he was President, and his only response was to fire a cruise missile at bin ladens tent.

And Bush Sr. could have taken care of Saddam Hussein in 1991 and he didn't. If it werent for the September 11 attacks, our current government would be following the same policies as previous administrations.

I think its a good thing that the government is aware of terrorists and devoting more resources to their elimination. But using the 'War on Terror' as an excuse to encroach on the freedoms of American citizens is BS. Say what you like, it just seems sinister to me...sure the subpoena for search records may seem harmless but where does it go from there once they have that power? They'll just want more.

I agree with on one thing, Bush 41 should have continued on and taken Saddam out, but i think Bush 41 was smart enough to realize, and knew enough about History, that if he were to eliminate Saddam, then we would have troops there for many many years, until their new government was stable. Sound familiar? I dont think Bush 43 realized that liberating Iraq militarily was the easy part. what going on right now is exactly what Bush 41 wanted to avoid.
Since we on the topic of second guessing. I think Truman should have told his Generals to move on to the U.S.S.R after eliminating the Nazi threat, but he told his Generals to pull back. He could have prevented 50 years of a Cold War and a nuclear standoff.
 
Just a side note, Im glad we are able to have this debate without anyone making personal attacks. This is very controversial and people feel very strongly about it. i respect people no matter where they stand on this issue.

With regard to how people where saying "why not more often". I think this is more evidence that the "terrorist" attacks (not all btw...but most) where not real. Im sure that a child (fourteen years old and up) could orchestrate a farely shocking terrorist attack in the US. All they have to do is get on the internet and download a "cookbook". And dont tell me that this internet tap would help them catch these hypothetical kids. About 90% of the kids/young adults i know have at some point looked at how to construct various explosives.... they do this just out of curiousity.
So if there really was a group of terrorists "out to get us" right now (keep in mind 90+% of them are suicide bombers) then there would be several terrorist attacks a day in the US.
