Bag differences

Just got my first cupcake batter bag and noticed clear differences from the normal blend:

1. Consistency - much less fluffy and more grainy
2. Smell - just off, chemical or tart
3. Taste - Much stronger and sweeter but also a bit off like an ashy aftertaste

I know the price is amazing but if its a different product we should be told. this seems like straight concentrate and I wonder about the nutritional info
 
I really think it's just quality control issues. Some bags for me have been good, others bad. The samples were always the best though (marketing scheme here?).

exactly the same thing for me. Much more grainy. Smell seems fine, and taste is a little stronger. But the consistency is completely different.

Any explanation for the difference?
 
It tastes alot better with milk to me than water. However, it isn't near as thick as it was last time I ordered (2 months ago). Hopefully it's still getting the job done.
 
Sounds like its been instantized. A process used by many companies to improve solubility, which improves mixing. Just throwin it out there, it could still be a bad batch though.

Yes a while back we got what seemed to be a different kind of cheese by-product. More like a mozzarella then the usual normal cheddar. That would explain the texture and taste difference. Scoop size might have changed as well during this batch.

Got the same with my last bag of Cinnamon Bun. Its also the first time Ive tried the Blend over the Isolate. Ill be going back to the isolate after my 5lb bags are gone. They taste completely different than the isolate...both cinnamon bun. The isolate is MUCH more enjoyable IMO. I had no idea there would be such a taste difference.
