Article: Why You Shouldn't Do Stretch Warmups

I've been preaching this to clients and teams I train for years now. Can't believe it's taking so long for people to catch up.

I'd be curious to know about stretching during training. One of my techniques for mass building is to perform stretching in between a few of my sets after establishing a large "pump" to help stretch out the muscle fascia.

I don't like how this article doesn't go in depth with their definition of static stretching. I have heard this argument before and the decrease in strength only occurred with multiple sets of a 30 second or longer hold. With that said, very few people actually hold their stretch that long.

This is not new to me, I've pretty much agreed with this assesment for awhile. I normally don't stretch much before a workout, but I do "warm-up" with lighter weights and increased reps before I get into the heavy stuff. After stretching, I do feel somewhat weaker so I only do very quick and basic stretching so that I don't shock my muscles with immediate heavy weights.

A good read only telling me to keep doing what I do. The only stretch I do lasts 10 seconds at the bottom of my squat with the bar and lighter weight if my hips are still feeling tight. Or I'll stretch in between sets just to loosen up a little tightness in the muscles, never once held a stretch for 30 seconds lol!
