Article: What Your Personal Trainer Keeps Secret

As a trainer I don't keep any of these these things secret, but these are definitely the things people don't want to hear from me or follow at the end of the day. I can give out nutrition advice all day and explain why compound lifts are the best overall core exercises, but it goes in one ear and out the other. A lot of women look at you like your trying to prep them for a strong man competition or something when you put them on a bench press lol. Clients will still wonder why I'm having them do squats or HIIT training instead of an entire hour of crunches when they told me their goal was a tighter midsection. Simple is better is so true too.. some trainers try to get as technical as possible to make the client feel like they couldn't do it on their own; doing things like standing on one leg... on a bosu ball...while curling.. it's like some kind of circus trick lol, may be improving balance but not doing a lot of anything else

This is true.
But, though everyone could do it on their own, everyone can't do it on their own.

or maybe "not everyone will do it on their own."

People lack reason and purpose in their lives. This, to me, is why excuses flood their motivations. And generally speaking, if an individual doesnt have a purpose that transcends the gym itself, then the only way to get them in there is to take away something dear to them - which is their money.

Mess with the money, and purposeless people get serious.

without proper education you are never going to know if you are doing something right. even with schooling, you still wont know unless you have some direction.

have your friend watch you, sure, but if your friend doesn't have the proper education, they also wont know whats up. so someone is going to have to pay some money somewhere.

you can train for years an get big, strong an look good. still doesn't mean you are doing it correctly. if you don't care about things like that, then ya, anyone can workout out.

I have quite a few clients who don't need a trainer. some have one for the reason you stated. they have already had enough instruction. others just like having a friend or someone to talk to.

after 3 months with a good trainer who knows what he's doing, a trainer is no longer "needed". wanted for w/e other reason is another story.

that's not technical, you gotta have them standing on the physio ball, on one leg before it gets technical. :lmao:

but seriously, I know what you mean.

What about the secret that many certifying tests are only written and not actually hands on the weights...

I don't know of any that include practical examinations.
Doesn't matter, you're still going to have to be shown how to use proper technique and how to spot incorrect form.
