Article: What Happened To Bodybuilding?

Perfectly summed up. If I see anymore posts of someone's dinner plate contents and "heading to the gym" or " crushed it today " stupid ass posts I'll puke.
Great article......

I sooo agree! Stupid food pics and braggin cuz they had a good session,, I know Im the real deal and dont need peer reassurence to boost my esteem.

"The beauty of bodybuilding is that it sits perched on the fence between Science and Art." THIS. Too many are all science and no soul. This encapsulates what I love about the old school bodybuilders.

Sounds like Facebook and Instagram are to blame for this one too. What area of life have those social media sites NOT screwed up?

Everybody out to get attention and acceptance rather than just enjoying the hobby.

Yup thats why I switched to powerlifting years ago. I can complete lean or fat and have fun.

I can do meets with equipment and get crazy numbers and have fun
or do meets raw and still have fun.

Nailed it man. I was reading how depression is more than double in young adults and teens due to constant contact and gratification seeking via social media.

Give it 10 years and half our teens will be institutionalized

Awesome read. I started lifting hard my junior year in high school 1995. It was purely just to get big and for challenge. The days were awesome me and two good buddies lifted 4-5 days a week hard following a strict percentage workout plan loved it. It was so different than now. Kids posing constantly for selfies with no plans but to take a good pic and update their status. I truly can't wait for the day Facebook is out of style.

Great article, I don't think i could have wrote this better myself. I get so sick of these people in the gym constantly taking pictures while "training" if you wanna call it that. I have been struggling to get more noticed and all my friends are saying its because I'm not more connected with "social media". This may be the case but if you look back to old school bodybuilding, everything they did was all on them

So true, when i first started 25 yrs ago everyone in the gym was huge, people went for 1 reason, to build muscle, none of this fitness socializing crap

Good read. I do it cause I enjoy the lifestyle. I train hard and eat clean and never talk about the details unless someone asks.

Not to offend anyone but why do people compete if we all have different genes and ****..?

U can and should ask that question about all of humanity. From money to sports to waging entire wars all for the sake of identifying self-worth over others.

I personally like bodybuilding because the first and most imminent foe is self, not others. So many live to have dominion over others and they can't even have dominion over their own body.

I'm getting tier of seeing a holes in the gym walk away and not put their weights back. these phaggots have enough energy to workout but not put their chit back? I'm going to cold cawk the next person I see doing it.
