Article: THE KETOGENIC DIET BUILDS MUSCLE AND BURNS FAT

How on earth does this meet the criteria of a "diet plan"... it's simply a VERY short list of high fat high protein foods!! Someone actually got paid to write this??

Gf got this new coconut oil that stays a liquid. It's called NuCo I think and they have plain, garlic, few other flavors. It's cool cuz it doesn't turn solid. What's weird is the ingredients list just coconut oil so I don't understand how I'd doesn't solidify

That was ridiculous. Bacon?? Peanut butter??I have been using a "Keto" type diet for a couple years now. Example; 7-8 eggs scrambled. 1/2 gallon of water mixed with 5grms creatine. 2 hours later first whey smoothie with water and banana. 2 hours later can of chunk whole tuna with chopped celery and broccoli mixed in. 2-3 hours later another whey smoothie. supper long grain brown rice with quinoa. Gettin the picture. I go about 175-80 grms protien, 30-50grms carbs, 10-12 grms fat. My energy level is awesome and im big and lean. Its tough for the first month, then your body starts to run real well on just protien. Yes its a pre-comp diet, but you can tweak it. Just stay away from bacon and peanut butter. Unreal.

You must be on more than 30-50g carbs. A banana alone has about 20-25g, and the rice and quinoa on top will prob push it closer to 100 unless you're having teaspoon size amounts. Whatever you're doing it's working I'm sure, but doesn't seem all that 'keto'. What's wrong with bacon btw?

I will eloborate a bit, half banana 10grms/ 1/2 cup o rice 1/4 cup quinoa 40- 50grms. it was an example. I go 3 days a week with less carbs than that! Somedays the only carbs I injest are from my pre- workout drink.. half a redbull diluted with water. Hey its not for everyone.Bacon is 70% fat high sodium crap. Very very minimal nutritional value. My body definetly enters periods of ketosis. Cuz I can tell when it occurs.

I love Keto, lost tons of weight on it. Here's the problem, staying under 50g a day.

Say you weigh 200lbs and eat your weight in protein from a leading brand shake. To get to 200g of protein you'd need 8.5 servings, however each serving has 3g carbs. That's 25g in carbs just in protein shakes alone! I will add that 50g of carbs a day is really pushing it close, most say 30g is better and if you go with Atkins it's 5-10g a day!

If anyone's interested it only works until a point, after a few years you have to take a break from it to continue weight-loss. I also didn't preserve much if any muscle if any. I lost 50lbs fat on keto, and about 5lbs of lean mass according to Fitbit scale. Lifted nearly every day and watched my bench go down the whole way, but I was already lifting a lot so it might only apply to veteran lifters where someone new would probably gain.

I need to look into this. I don't use coconut oil in my shakes because it always solidifies.... but it would taste amazing in there.

Keto is supposed to be 30 or less. I use isolates and in particular isopure which has zero carbs. Also you neeed to subtract the fiber from the carb on what you Eat. For emple broccoli has 5 g Carbs and 3 g fiber so it counts for 2 g carbs per serve. Keto is all about high fats, bacon, eggs, butter fatty meats, olive oil and some nuts are perfect. Take fiber pills, cruciferous greens for fiber. Spinach is perfect. Low carb great health wise.

When you heat up coconut oil it turns into a liquid. When it's hot in my house my whole jar will turn from solid to liquid and back again when cooled.

The ketogenic diet does not burn fat and build muscle. Steroids do. this diet is not going to shred your love handles and build pounds of muscle. I stopped reading at lean mass. Lean muscle is a fake term created by the fitness industry to sell supplements. When is muscle not lean? Never. Muscle is always lean. It is the most ridiculous term I have ever heard in my life

For all the guys wanting to incorporate liquid coconut oil into their shakes, look into mct oil. I love it

ya true dat, but very low carbs and high pro while on good test and an oral works awesome. keto exactley? maybe not, but when your body gets used to it, you only gotta carb out few times a week to get your glycogen back up.
