Its possible that either men or women are more prone to stress than the other. Since male and female have different bodies that would seriously throw off the results. studies should have been done with a single gender or have done two separate studies.
How do you 100 percent know when you're fully recovered? I've had times where I go to workout (legs for example) while my legs were still sore and continued increasing reps and weight. Other times I've done the same thing and immediately plateaued. When I plateau I notice taking time off until I'm not sore anymore allows me to break through that plateau. I've also noticed that cardio can make it take longer to recover. I guess it's all individual but it can get pretty complicated. Wouldn't diet play more of a role in recovery than anything else?
