People need to quit blaming the food industry and start looking at the lazy parents not making their kids go out and play.

People need to quit blaming the food industry and start looking at the lazy parents not making their kids go out and play. Kids are fat because they don't exercise. Parents are fat because they don't exercise.

While that is in part true, sugar (and the way it marketed to children) plays a huge role. Just watched the movie FedUp and it's pretty eye opening in regards the sugar and the sugar industry.

I ate lucky charms, pop tarts, fruit roll ups, soda, slurpies, super size soda an fries, all the good sh!t as a kid, as well as my friends.

The difference is we played super Nintendo or Sega every once in a while, but most of the time we were playing outside, horsing around, riding bikes, playing soccer an football.

My grandma would lock the door so I couldn't come inside, and play outside all afternoon.
if I wanted water, there was the hose, if I had to pee, there were bushes.

Almost 8 hrs of TV/day....plus packaged carbs that don't get burned = fat people. But rarely do I see fit parents with fat children. Kids only know what we teach them and what behaviors we model. The only time they eat actual food is on holidays at Grannie's house.

Education is key. I had no idea the effects of sugar growing up. I drank soda like it was going out of style in high school. I remember the food pyramid but nothing about excess calories. For some reason, I thought it was all about how much fat you ate.
