Article: Simple Ab Training

Ab training is often redundant.

If someone does A, B, C, D, and F, and gets good results, they assume that's what you gotta do to get abs.

Or I can just do A, B, and C and get similarly good results.

Abs aren't a complex muscle group so why does everyone treat them like they are? Same thing happens with biceps.

I have nice abs and all I do are crunches, reverse crunches, and side twists. Sometimes hanging leg raises/twists.

Keep it simple.

Bottom line abs ant built in the gym it's the diet that gets u abs you cant see them if u eat junk all the time but ab training is a must like any other body part train them from every angle do your cardio eat tidy and most of all have a bit of patients and ul get them

Should you not train your abs with low reps? Say 5-8rep. I mean to be strong and getting stronger in the core should help you in squat, deadlift etc.

Abs, like ANY other muscle group, adapt to the same stimulus over time. If you're OK with decent-looking, visible abs, then crunches, raises, twists and the like are probably sufficient. But if you want a well-rounded, functionally strong mid-section or "core" (stabilizing muscles all the way from your neck down to hips and everything in between) then you need to train all movements - flexion, extension, anti-extension, rotation, anti-rotation, isometrics and the Valsalva maneuver.
Another thing, if you always do high-volume ab training (15-30 repetitions), I'm very certain that you will notice a benefit and improvement in your abs' appearance and strength from cyclically incorporating heavier ab training (4-10 reps), which may be just what you need to take your abs to the next level.
And I'm just talking training, not eating habits.
Again, none of this is necessary to have a mediocre mid-section, but who the hell wants to be mediocre?

The sucked in ab look looks amazing. Definitely will be incorporating that one thank you. What does everyone else think of the form on the cable crunches? I think dudes a touch too far and getting too large of a ROM that's taking away from the abs and crunching with the back/hips.
