Article: Signs That You Should Quit Bodybuilding

Great fricken article!!! I love it!! Yeah I remember holidays and get togethers being the last one there because I had to get to the gym... or drinking ice water at the tavern watching drunk idiots... bottom line is if you're not it it for right reasons you're wasting your time, money and energy. It truly is about a lifestyle and trying to live a life that you're not 1000% into You will see gains yo-yo and probably never really make big changes in your physique.

I remember back when people started noticing my changes I was asked, why do you do it?
I had no answer other than, this is what I do.
It's for me, not for the wife, kids, neighbor or freakin insurance rates. And certainly not for going pro...ain't nobody in my gym/garage but me and my 4yo with her one lb weights trying to copy Daddy.

I spent my youth trashing my body but now...man, this feels better than any high. And that's never changed.
I don't give a phat rat about impressing people, although there is a small element of that. Whoever says otherwise is a liar.
It's about me, creating a better me.
And someday, when that old reaper comes, I ain't going quietly into that good night. I'm gonna grab that ol bastard by the balls, pull them up for reins, and ride him with a rebel yell the whole way.
But...until then...I'll still bitch about Burpees.
Great article!

I haven't posted here in a long time... But great article.

I love working out/trying to maintain a pretty healthy lifestyle, and have been doing so for almost 13 years now, so it's not that I have anything against people that like working out.... However.... NO. ONE. CARES. about your stupid diet or psuedo-motivational Facebook or Instagram posts (eg, "while the rest of my family is eating Thanksgiving food, I'm making sacrifices and sticking to my prepped meals. It's awful, but that's what it takes").... Like, just shut up. But, of course, if you say that, then you're a "hater" and "just aren't motivated".

Vicious cycle, man.

This is the reason I ditched social media. I can't get away from these types of people, they are the most annoying and selfish people I know. **** that. I remember one year I had the chance to train or go to my friends (girl) birthday party. What did I do? Turned my phone off and headed to the gym. Also f people who use Holliday's as an excuse to not train. If I could train 5 -6 hours a day I would, hell even two a days would be awesome.

Uhhhh I think he's saying that a Greek statue looks better than roid monsters, hence the greater than sign...

If you're one of these guys who takes pics of yourself all day/ has pro pics taken/ posts/pics about your diet and thinks you're some kind of model, you should just kill yourself not quit bodybuilding

Lol yeah, that's what I was getting at.. Did other people not get that?

Also I was thinking, this article is very pretentious. Written by a douche, I'm sure. It assumes you only do bodybuilding as if you were going to compete. Bodybuilding isn't everyone's number one priority. But some bodybuilding training is better than none. There's no way this article wasn't written by a douche.

You missed the whole point of the article. If you're not that serious about it then you wouldn't be doing the things it's referring to. You get there when you get there.... and don't sweat loosening your diet... otherwise you're a candidate for what the article is talking about. Probably do the peacock workout and rarely get near the squat rack...

He wrote the article using absolute terms.

He is saying that if you can't give it 100% then you shouldn't do it at all. This is the advice of an idiot. Any amount of exercise is better than no exercise at all.

The author would never tell this stuff to somebody's face.

Yeah he's not talking about casual exercisers who do it for their health (as a priority). A casual exerciser wouldn't worry about those details that a serious, albeit a hobby, bodybuilder would. Lose some weight, maintain it.. make some improvements. The difference is in the person's intent or what they want us to think their intent is... hence the drama and complaining which is just attention grabbing. You train hard and mostly eat clean so you can eat a little too much good food on occasion and still look good and be healthy.

Your words reflect your inability to comprehend what you read.

The author never distinguishes between a "hobby" bodybuilder and a "serious" bodybuilder. He simply uses the word 'bodybuilder.' And according to him, if you can't give a full effort then you may as well just stop. That's what a doucher says.

If this article was specifically about competitive bodybuilding, I wouldn't have thought twice about it and I wouldn't have commented.

You don't have to compete to be serious about it. No I totally understand what's being said. This is about guys who act like they're so serious but complain and make issues about what they are doing for fun... FOR FUN... so take it or leave it. No one is twisting your arm.. your paycheck doesn't depend on it.. just attention whores. It's yours to make it however you want. That's the beauty of it but bodybuilding is more of a lifestyle. It's a whole lot of stuff not just lifting weights. You do it because you like it at whatever level you want. But don't act like you're miserable trying to be what you're not. It's not so much about what you're doing and more about how you're doing it. The article is also, I believe, a little bit of satire as well. It's written for a laugh.
