Nice basic article. If you don't want expensive shoes for squat just get some chucks like it says, they've worked for me for quite a while. You can't transfer strength when you're pushing against mushy running sho soles.

Oh. And get to parallel. I get so tired of watching people barely unlock their knees and thinking they're really doing something....lol

Yea I actually got the nike Romaleos 2 shoes for lifting. 200 bucks but they're good. The shoes actually force me to use better form

I have some Do Wins with the elevated heel but I still prefer barefoot. I feel like it gives me better stability and ability to press/spread the floor.
 
I use Vibram 5 fingers, would go barefoot if they'd let me but I think at my gym alarms would go off like when you try to steal something from Walmart, I mean, when they forget to swipe the tag on my 5 gallon barrel of protein.
