Article: Rising From The Ashes

Lol the author has some serious self image and insecurity issues and his perception about physique and how it translates over to real world social interactions and life experiences is about as real as Santa Claus. To be honest I feel bad for the guy. Would hate to go through life with this type of rigid thinking.

Amen.

I have been wrestling since 7th grade. I'm a senior now. My freshman year I was beat horribly and pinned by a girl. Other wrestlers who knew her said she was a state qualifier, beat guys up on the regular and is a just good wrestler. I rationalized and said meh what ever she beat me it's not that bad. Until I walked off the mat my coach cursing yelling. " You lost to a million years of evolution! You are stronger and tougher than a girl. You are a sorry excuse for a wrestler!" That's when I snapped. I was crying, and angry at myself. I didn't want to lose anymore. I focused all my time to wrestling. Spring, summer, fall and winter season. Worked my ****ing ass off! My junior year I took first place at Greco Romain state and was on the Illinois National team.

Every aspect of this article is absolutely true, and I imagine it's a mind-set that is difficult to comprehend unless you've been through it. Kudos to the author for being able to express the process in clear, honest language.

I just sat here reading this thinking this crazy SOB just put my entire transformation into words! Step by step what the OP wrote is dead on. I wasn't embarrassed by fat, mine was issues within my family. Working out was a way to release anger without hurting anyone (Not family members) then people started noticing the transformation and I liked the attention and now I can't imagine not getting bigger and stronger.

There have been multiple studies that correlate "good looks" and an increase in things like hiring, pay, promotion rate, etc.

i've read similar things and have experienced it first hand. when it comes to the business world, it absolutely counts. who would you hire: the fat dude with more experience but is self-conscious and comes off as being possibly lazy or dirty, or the clean-cut fit applicant with less experience but speaks with confidence and presents themselves more professionally?

obviously, the latter. by being in good shape you're naturally confident in your presentation, helping you feel more confident in your actions and words. ntm, in a world where fitness is a very big thing right now, people respect those that are in shape. it shows dedication and success, which clients love to see.

I did a career switch (sorta) last year and there wasn't a single interview that I didn't mention the fact that I started every morning at the gym.
