Article: Prepping For Contact

are you implying that a certain type of squat can reduce brain injuries???? thats basically what i got from this article....if your nose stops getting bloody than your brain will too once you smash it enough... or if you do a bunch if special barbell curls and exercises you'll be more prepared for 'collision sports'...when you say collision i think of serious contact and concussions....you do not seem to clarify what exactly you mean by collision. it certainly was not clear to me that you were NOT talking about concussions....it seems like this article is ill-informed and misguided. you should have had a disclaimer warning about the dangers of traumatic brain injury. in failing to do so, you published an article in an authoritative manner when you clearly are not a brain trauma authority. i would revise this immediately. it seems like you know how to prevent concussions or SIS (second impact syndrome), which is absurd, presumptuous and untrue.

The only effective way to prevent a concussion is to not play sports and wear a helmet everywhere you go. Its rediculous to claim that concussions can be reduced or avoided by doing a workout. That's not at all what this article is about. Its about getting your body more acclimated to physical contact while also doing cardio and mass building. Most of the workouts he described here are strictly for muscle confusion. They're also full body workouts rather than targeting one muscle group at a time. Full body workouts teach balance and core stregnth. Both are essential in excelling in really any sport, not just contact sports. I think you have been looking into the whole "concussion crisis" a little too much. If you want a way to prevent brain trauma, stop sitting so close to the tv.

Oh so this is an article saying that working out is good for sports.... It has nothing to do with contact. What's the bloody nose business? Whats the tumbling stuff? And what does "acclimated to physical contact" mean?....THAT is exactly what i'm calling out. Getting acclimated to physical contact is a dangerous idea to be honest. If you get your nose bloody a bunch or your bell rung a couple times it'll stop happening? Really? If you take enough hits in practice you won't break ribs in a game? ...This article is playing off the whole collisions/mma/head trauma crisis to draw people in when it's really just an article that says working out builds muscle and makes you better at sports.

I f##ked up. I deff overreacted to that whole article. I'm recovering from a concussion at the moment--some serious mood swings along with some reading comprehension issues, Which is clearly a bad combo on the Internet. My apologies to all. I'm gonna take a break from AM so I don't embarrass myself anymore

Stay anabolic
