Article: Nootropics: Smart Drugs for the Dumb Meathead

There are some nootropics that leave a lasting benefit even aftwr ceasing usage. Sulbutamine is an example of one. Also piracetam has been shown to repair alcohol damaged brains, so that in itself could be considered a lasting benefit.

People need to be careful with all the nootropics listed because everyone is an agonist on the nmda receptors and I am sure almost everyone on this site is taking a preworkout. Most preworkouts have new powerful stimulants that also act as an agonist on the nmda receptors. Too much of that is a bad thing, because excessive calcium can get through causing excitotoxicity or excessive glutamate in the brain.

Caffeine wouldnt be a concern... Ita just the preworkouts that mimic amphetamines and such

I have yet to try any of racetams. I tried Alpha Brain by ONNIT and added 750 mg of GABA(since the new alpha brain formula took it out) and L-HTP. This along with 2 g of fish oil and I would say that my mind function was noticeably different. Nootropics are definitely something we should put more research into.

I cringe everytime I see a suggestion for phenibut without a warning.

Why? There are warnings all over the bottle (s) LOL

In fact phenibut bottles have the most drastic warnings out of any other supplement ive ever used. On mine it says like "see doctor immediately if used for more than 72 hours without a break". If people dont read directions on the bottles of supplements they are ingesting, why would they listen to some randoms on an internet forum.

Sadly, ive seen quite a few threads about phenibut withdrawal.

Phenibut does not have enough research. Why people just don't take GABA is puzzling. Phenibut is supposed to act like GABA.

Phenibut never seemed addictive and I took high doses, but gaba gave me a noticeable effect. So gaba have any withdrawals I never noticed any, but everyones different and I only took for a month..

There is question on gaba passing the blood brain barrier so it is not the most efficient method. Although I have yet to meet anyone that has taken it and not had effects.

Phenibut is complete garbage and pretty dangerous, IMO.

Stacking with Oxiracetam would prevent calcium buildup, and there have been long term studies with noopept that not only show that there is no deleterious effect to long term, sustained use, but that there is a benefit. Insofar as I know, all of the racetams listed in the article, save the little known and used ones like coluracetam, all have neuroprotective effects. Oxiracetam in particular has anti-oxident like properties that protect against excessive calcium buildup in the brain (Invalid Link Removed)

Phenibut's been studied extensively- the Russians developed it for cosmonauts in the 1960s and it's been in continuous use since.

Anyone tried PEA (phenyl ethyl amine)? It was great while I was taking it, but terrible withdrawls afterwards.

Never i did feel anything from phenibut and i tried different Brands and dosed up to 1.5g

Okay yeah Phenibut literally had effect and the effect that was thwre seemed placebo. Gaba, despite not being able to pass b.b barier had a stronngg effect..like Id get tingles and if dosed too high it slowed breathing.. Didnt seem to have withdrawls but only used one month. Phenibut gave no withdrawals

I know there is solid evidence that these drugs have long term benefits, but my concern is stacking with my adderal.

I actually started noopept again today bc exams this week, but Idk if I should continue. Just search piracetam and adderal= excitotoxicity and yull find stuff on it. Idk what to trust.. I just am scared to do damage to rhe brain, not saying the drugs arnt a great discovery.

The Russian studies were to find if phenibut decreased stress levels without decreasing performance, which it did. However the studies did not include the effects of phenibut use for extended periods of time or for the use to improve cognitive performance. There are several conflicting studies for both the use of phenibut for long term use and for use as a nootropic.

Do you recommend aniracetam over the other nootropics? I've read it's the best, but that was online somewhere.

Personally, I think racetam's are overrated. I never noticed much of anything from Ani or Oxi.
