i think the standing dumbbell press is supposed to be the preferred press in this article.... yuck.

i could maybe see someone arguing that the dumbbell shoulder press targets the delts more directly than the ohp, but why standing and why not hit a ton of muscles and just do ohp?

That's all I do anymore for delts 4-5 heavy sets of ohp. Delts are bigger and more cut than when I did ur basic whole bunch of dumbbell exercise and "hit em from all angles" yada yada routine
 
Agreed. Unless you're really trying to target one specific head or point of origin/insertion then OHP is all you need. I can see the argument to alternate with DB press though.
 
the only real advantage i see to dumbells is a little bit more free ROM and a little bit more require control...but all in all i much prefer. the BB overhead press-behind the neck actually.
