Article: Jump Squats For Growth

Yes, lets all try landing with a loaded bar on our upper back. The force becomes impactual to the entire spine, the discs in your thoracic and lumbar spine, and the cartilage in your hips, knees, and ankles. Once any of these are displaced or crushed, or injured...you are done. What could possibly convince people to try movements like this? I am a chiropractor and I can tell you, I have seen the MRI's and CT scans from stunts like this..not pretty and completely non-necessary. There is zero need for impactual forces when loaded with a weight. I couldn't hardly create a more dangerous setup. First, do no harm people.

^ it's says to use 20-30% of your 1RM. I realize for some that's still a considerable load on your back (think 600+ squatters), but for your average trainee you're not going to be loading up much more than 100lbs (if that...). Just don't see how that could cause injury. It's like deadlifting 135 with a rounded lower back, you're only going to hurt yourself if you're a 90lb woman. I'm no doctor, just my .02
