Article: Is High Fructose Corn Syrup Really That Bad for Y

Most here are not concerned with obesity, but HFCS is something I personally stay away from. I have noticed that I can bulk much leaner while avoiding HFCS products. I am careful with the brand of ice cream I buy (ice cream on the weekends sometimes), with the type of graham crackers I buy, the cereal I buy, etc.

Knowing that HFCS is metabolized through the liver, and knowing that this process will trigger fat storage is very important. I lift first thing in the AM (like the Rock - yea buddy) and I am fasted. Post work out, I have a carbohydrate drink. My choice is two scoops (sometimes 3) of powdered Gatorade. Science would say that this does not trigger fat storage - because dextrose is not metabolized through the liver. Science would say that if I were to drink the equivalent carbohydrates of liquid Gatorade (which has HFCS, not dextrose), then my fat storage hormones WOULD be triggered.

In my world, my body seems to agree with science on this one. Cutting out ALL HFCS has done wonders for my body comp.

This leads me to believe that there is much more to the body composition equation than cals in v. cals out. Hormones do play a role here, and determine where some of those calories are stored. But that's a whole different topic...

Nice read, except the "detox" diet invite at the end.

"Detox" is a bull**** and misleading term when applied to diets.
