Article: How Bodybuilders Should Squat

I don't entirely agree with maxing out at 20 sets per week. Seems low to me.

i agree. i usually aim for 10 sets alone on squats and then i do leg press and extensions. stiff leg deadlifts or normal deadlifts and leg curls etc on single workout. i workout legs twice a week. So technically i do that 20 sets easily in half week. most likely will get 20-50 sets on one week. Going by the feeling so it really changes. Keeping rest between sets around 30sec to 120sec. depends if im doing really heavy or moderate weight.

I love training legs and even thought im natural. I recover really fast. Thats my gift :) also i get massage every week (helps too). I started to really get gains after i started to train this way. Going by the feeling. I used to do those 5x5 and typical 3x8-10 etc and while they got some foundation. They didint give me so much. Real gains started after doing really high volumes (more sets and 3-25 rep ranges) i like to mix things up too. like do 5x5 squat or 5x3 and then 5x10 and then maybe even 2-5x15-25.

I don't know man...lol as a natural I don't see how you could possibly be doing 50 sets for legs twice a week unless you're a teenager. I can fatigue my muscles to absolute failure to where it's hard to walk after one set. Personally if it takes you 50 sets to work a muscle are you honestly training hard enough? Something doesn't sound right here. Pro bodybuilders on tons of gear don't do 50 sets in a session that's ridiculous

well... i have been wondering it myself too. I feel really sore and barely can walk but i somehow seem to recover quickly. Also like i said i do get massage some times every week and i also massage my triggers and do faschia release techniques + stretching. (haha i kinda love that pain) also i sleep around 8-12hours every night and eat plenty of food (also i make sure i get all micronutrients and not sure if they help but taking all kinds of herbs with foods that should help on recovery and be anti inflammatory etc."not sure if i spelled it right")

By doing this kind of insane training my legs have started to grow on quite fast speed and im not sure if i said it right. i kinda like meant i do around 50 sets total instead of this topic saying to do 20sets. so on 1st workout i could maybe do 20-30 sets and next one 20-30. so it makes up that 40-50 total each week. which is over double of that 20sets.

same with back for example i started doing pullups and pulldowns etc for lets say.. i dont count sets but i just make some target number like 100reps. I just keep doing them till i get that. Works wonders for me this high volume training.

I guess im training hard enough. atleast im progressing very well and i can get to failure pretty easily/quickly if i want to. i just keep pushing over the limit. Its pretty much my own version of German volume training. tailored it to fit me.
