I'm 6ft 4 and find going lower than parallel puts too much pressure on lower back because I ain't got the flexibility. I go parallel and get really good gains on my quads this way. Quarter reps are only done in my gym by ego trainers ha.
 
There is no need to go ass to grass. I only go just below parrellel and i have seen gains in muscle definition, size and strength.
 
Each to his own (body) and I'm not going below parallel because I think the mirrors will shatter when my knees go popping out and into them.....
