Article: Enjoying Exercising Is Genetic

Would've thought that'd be pretty obvious. That said there appears to be a *ton* of room for individual variation. *That* said, people seem to be pretty much made the way they're made. Some people love exercise and are lifers, other people can never seem to get into it. I personally doubt people can decide to like it, any more than you can choose what kind of foods you like or who you're attracted to.

I agree compudog. Every so often somebody will ask me how often I work out at the gym. I tell them six days a week and the response is always along the lines of "why do you do that to yourself?". But I don't drag myself to the gym or the track...I just plain want to. And this is incomprehensible to somebody who would rather kick back with a bag of chips on their free time. If it is indeed genetic, I am not at all surprised and consider myself fortunate to be swimming in the right gene pool.

It may be in the genes, but I am the only one in my family that has the passion for it. I also was put into sports at a young age and encouraged to be active. Baseball and skateboarding but the dropped off in early to mid twenties, then was born again under the iron from then on.
