Article: Doing The Jefferson Deadlift

One of my favorites, and I swear I'm the only one at my gym who does them.

Me to, Its literally top 10 for me

I may have to work this in on my next leg day to try it out

I will have to try this. Looks awkward

The bar should be transverse between your legs, feet either side by side or slightly staggered. Keep arms shoulder width. You'll have one arm reaching in front and one behind the bar. Probably won't have to bend as low as a regular deadlift. Try three reps then switch positions.

Alternate your grip. Underhand grip will be in front of your body and inside your knee.

Awesome, awesome article. Like mentioned above, I am the only one that ever does these and I don't work them in enough always falling back on traditional DL and sumo.

Might be a dumb question but What about the movement? What should that look like?

Pick it up, put it down. Can be a bit more upright than a deadlift motion

This is my first time seeing this lift. I'm going to give it a try for sure on this weeks leg day.

I see very little benefit from this exercise. It looks like such an akward movement.

When your legs grow and your heart rate gets jacked up from reps and you sweat early on in your set, you will know the benefits

I prefer it over standard deadlift. You're not behind the bar and possibly straining your back, the bar is in line with your body.

How can you make a comment like that when you obviously don't know about it?

I just read the article... I now know about it. Nothing normal deadlifts and squats cant accomplish with half the chance of an injury. If this is your exercise hats off to you.

Another fave of mine, I have a female training partner, who is on the quest for an epic a**, she hates doing them but she can't argue with the results.

Love these along with Steve Reeves style pulls, Great back Blast....Pretty sure no one at my gym does either of these...

This line of thinking is exactly why I bought and train with a Gerard Trap Bar.
But everyone already doing standard deadlift can get the benefit of the Jefferson Deadlift without having to buy anything.

I've had enough injuries, that.
I'm going to approach the Jefferson Deadlift with caution, lighter weights at first.
Looks awkward like a kettle-bell, not perfectly balanced as most of the bodybuilding lifts usually are.
But this is good as all this will require the usage of stabilization muscles giving a greater working.
As long as caution is taken and I don't hurt myself being stupid. Most of my injuries, where caused by being stupid. Changing from doing reps to repeated singles without thinking of lowing the weight. Trying a new exercise and thinking, I can do it heavy, it's simple.

Who's this Jefferson guy? Anyway I already know if I try this at my gym people are gonna laugh and stare thinking I have no clue what I'm doing lol. It is a strange looking movement though and I still can't believe I've never seen this

And when you're legs are bursting through your shorts you can stare at them and laugh as they struggle to lift their own puny weights... mwahahahaha!
