Article: Do You Smith?

haha, I'm not the one name calling, take a joke kid, it's called humor and if you're that easily insulted this probably isn't the forum for you. You've already been flamed in multiple threads. Whether you're 17 or 18 you're very young, why don't you try reading more and posting less, learn a little instead of trying to pretend to have so much knowledge and world experience. Forget about peptides and AAS. Spend a few years learning how to build a good physique before you worry about exogenous hormones. If you didn't come off as such a jacka$$ I might've gone over your blood work with you, but bottom line stick to natural supplements for a while.

Haha, judging by your plethora of bro science I wouldn't want any advice on my bloodwork from you. I haven't had any issues with anyone but you on this forum, I like the community here, the the majority, but clearly not all, are fairly intelligent. You have not made a single educated argument against me, all you have used it personal anecdotes and condescension regarding my age and surgery to attempt to discredit me, your idiocy encourages me as it shows despite you being 50% older than me you have 50% less intelligence in this particular regard, that's the last I'm going to credit your stupid posts with a reply, cheers m8

hahaha, all my bro science, oh kid u actually do a have a sense of humor. At least you used a dictionary before posting your big words this time. Keep being scared of the smith machine, girls, puberty and the life you lead before your operation.

I used the smith machine in my younger 20s a lot for squats. It took pressure off my knees because I could put my feet more forward, being 6'1" with long legs I would have to go to a pretty acute angle to actually go below parallel. I could also put my feet wider than I could for free weight squats, this allowed me to target my glutes and outer quads (vastus lateralis) more. The smith is a great alternative for anyone that has injuries which makes squats painful or dangerous. I don't see many exercises as being pointless. Also mountainmans posts above are spot on

If you can't free squat below parallel because of your "long legs" than maybe you have flexibility issues and if you felt "pressure" in your knees than maybe you should have tried less weight.

because using the smith machine so that you can place your feet further out to take pressure off your knees by making your leg bend to less extreme of an angle doesn't make any sense does it? I ran hurdles for 6 years, I'm extremely flexible. I also didn't say I couldn't free squat due to knee trouble. It helps people that have knee trouble. I don't free weight squat due to a herniated disk in my back. I actually do leg press primarily and I have 29" thighs. When I did do free weight squats I could get 545 for a few reps going to parallel. But I usually stick to less weight and sets of 12-15 reps for legs. Thanks for the input tho.

So you can use 55lbs DBs for lateral raises, curl more than both those guys combined, squat 545, have 28 or 29' thighs, hurdled for 6 years, trained with American gladiators, and you don't lift with an ego? Is there any other interesting facts you left out?!

jeez man don't be so jelly. As my gladiator buddy says "it's not how much you can lift, it's how much you look like you can lift" and I've been working hard at my physique for a very long time. You can read everything I've ever posted here since 2005 if u wanna backlog me to check for credibility. Don't be so shocked next time you run into someone big and strong on this forum.

I have read through this whole thread and my 2 cents is too many guys are worried about discrediting what the others are doing. Although the Smith shouldn't replace free weights, it has it's place in a lot of different excercises. But if you hate it, don't use it. And who gives a shi+ how much you can lift. If one person can "lift" more than the other, it doesn't make him more knowledgeable. Ok, that might have been more like 8 cents worth?

Doesn't mean he can beat him in a fight either. Muscle doesn't mean much

Muscle doesn't mean much? That's why there's weight classes right? When talking on a forum primarily dedicated to learning how to better build muscle, burn fat and increase strength and endurance...you guys don't think strength or muscle matters? What are you here for?

sure, I would have to ask a random person in the gym to video me though as I lift alone, but I can if you'd like. The American gladiator I used to train with would do all his sets with 50s and pause at the top for every rep and this was 7 years after he had stopped competing in bodybuilding or taking AAS. I used to think it was insane, now I can do a little more than that. I've military pressed 315 twice before, my delts are pretty strong. Concentration curls with the 100s sounds a little silly tho, unless ur boss was a monster. I can do strict form for alternating db curls with the 70s for 6 reps, a couple more on good days. I train for looks, but after 14 years or so of training hard and dieting semi-correctly I've managed to get decently strong. Idk who lifts 5-6 days a week and doesn't want to get stronger? I know Mystere3 that posts on here lifts more than I do for upper body if you check out some of his logs.

Yes please post the video of the perfect form 70 pound hammer curls and 55 pound db lateral raises . I go to the second most crowded gym in SOUTH FLORIDA. Some truly massive guys go to my gym who are extremely strong. I have never seen one person doing 70 pound hammer curls. I did see a guy doing 60 pound lateral raises with ok form..not great but he was also juiced to the gills and at least 250 pounds. Those numbers are just kind of outrageous. If you can do them then that's awesome you should be posting that shyt regularly

South Florida! great! Just come video me then, I live in Naples Florida, I work out alone and don't wanna ask strangers to video me so I can prove to the kids online I'm not full of sh!t about some lifts. Those are 70lb alternating db curls not hammer, and I'm decently lean and just over 240, not on any juice tho. I've been training hard for 12 years now, idk why these weights seems so unbelievable to some?
