This may all be true, but I've switched-off coffee for two reasons - dehydration and cortisol. Coffee is a diuretic and, for me at least, leaves me feeling dehydrated no matter how much water I drink after. 3 or more cups of coffee and I spend the rest of the day expelling all of the water I drink. I feel that leaves me in a suboptimal state for exercise and recovery. The second item - cortisol - is more complicated. I have read countless articles that claim that coffee, even decaf, has chemicals that trigger the release of the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol has a role in the body, for fight-or-flight, but in large amounts over time leads to fat retention and lowered testosterone levels. Not good. I now drink 4-6 bags of organic green tea per day. I get enough caffeine, it doesn't dehydrate me, there isn't the cortisol issue and I know its loaded with epicatichins and antioxidants.
