Article: Cellur Mechanism Of Omega 3s Benefits

My chiropractor/physical therapist's office has had flyers regarding this info for around a year. They said/recommended up to 3 grams for adults (?)... It must be working cause I have been taking 2 to 4 capsules a day for about 8mos, depending on activity levels, and my joint issues, DOMS, post workout muscle fatigue are all significantly reduced. Good info to pass on.

I believe recommended dosing is 2 g EPA and 1 g DHA daily. Most standard fish oils don't cover half of that dosing with one our even sometimes two servings. Check your bottles. Im thinking it might be better to spend the extra cash on a good fish oil than spending five dollars less and not reaping the full benefits.

Interesting findings on the LOX enzymes and the possible anti-inflammatory genes upregulated by that pathway. One thing that would have been nice to note (and perhaps it's discussed in the actual literature) is which Cox enzyme Omega 3's effect. Cox 1 = Vasoconstriction, Cox 2 = Vasodilation ergo inhibiting one over the other can have detrimental health benefits (Celebrex anyone??). There is an error in the data though, and that is the fact that aspirin only inhibits Cox 2 when in fact it inhibits both Cox 1 and Cox 2. Celebrex and drugs of the like are all Cox 2 targeted pharmacological agents, which explains all of the reported heart attacks and other cardiological complications some have seen with use. You don't see that with aspirin. I would assume Omega 3's function in a capacity similar to that of aspirin.
