Article: Busting Obesity Myths

So, an article stating they decided on answers, but you've got to pay the $50 to read the answers in the study; they aren't here. I want my 5 minutes back.

Haha. Yeah I disagree with their first "myth". Extremely fast weight loss reveals an unsustainable diet. That means ur likely starving urself and not creating sustainable habits. If the diet isnt sustainable, then that also implies that you'll eventually go back to something that is.

Starvation always gears the body to store fat and burn muscle tissue to lower BMR requires as a survival technique. Its this type of fast, unsustainable weight loss that creates the term "yo-yo dieting" and is regularly taken advantage of by bodybuilders the get that "rebound growth" right after hard dieting for a show.

See, they call it a "myth," but they state that a number of them are possibly realities - considering that there's numerous good studies on bodyfat set point and relevant topics, I'd say they likely confirmed the myth in the paper.

I don't know what the myth is to obesity, consuming an excess amount of calories while leading a sedentary lifestyle is the predominant cause of obesity.

Starvation after 18-24 hours will result in muscle breakdown. It's blown way out of proportion on how easy it is to burn muscle . Morning fasting will burn primarily fat.

I'm not referring to fasting. I regularly do fasting and it works to burn fat and increase insulin sensitivity. But continous, excessive calorie deficits are what slows the metabolism.

We're not talking about periods of fasting for fat loss, we're talking days upon days of eating too far below that maintenence requirement. U can fast and still eat in a caloric surplus during the feeding window, which will result in weight gain.

Obesity is simply caused by consumption of too much wheat, corn and potatoes. Too many carbs after 2 pm and lack of exercise.

That sounds specific to folks with low insulin sensitivity.

I regularly eat carbs after 2 pm on my cutting diet.
Corn and potatoes are great starches btw. Maltodextrin is superior to other sugars for replenishing glycogen levels.
