Article: Avoiding DOMS

I usually get doms after a workout. Not severe though, if you are training hard and lifting heavy I don't think they can be truly avoided. Any one know why the delts never get doms?

I love DOMS. It tells me that I've had an optimal training session, and I don't directly work the affected muscle group until the soreness is gone. Whenever I get DOMS, I eat a sh-tload of protein rich foods and drink nearly double the amount of water. Why would anyone want to avoid it? Especially DOMS in your legs a day after a super intense leg workout. That's by far my favorite.

It almost seems like these guys who write these articles have something against DOMS. If DOMS are effecting your strength levels, therefore making you weaker, why the hell would you train through it? I can understand minimizing recovery to give the muscles a good shock by working through soreness but when I've done this I've plateaued (even regressed in a case or two) relatively quickly. The only thing that allowed me to break through the plateau was by taking more rest.
