Article: 400 Pound Kettlebell Swings

Agree 100% with the premise as the kettlebell is a tool that can do it all. Heavy swings should be a staple in anyone looking to build strength as Russians did long ago. Video seems crazy but hey crazier things have happened.

Very interesting. I am a proponent of heavy swings. One observation; clearly when using 400 + pounds the ROM is reduced. One of the benefits to the traditional heavy swings, by traditional I mean two heavy KB's, is the ROM is much greater (chest level swings) creating a virtual force. The longer lever arm created by the KB handle increases the virtual force. Remember, Force = mass x acceleration, example: drop a 70 lb Kb on your toe from 7 ft or roll a 500 lb barbell over it. I find this article intriguing and I have no doubt there are some unique benefits to these very heavy swings. I don't see them as superior to traditional heavy swing ( to chest level ) with say a pair of 88 lb KB's. Controlling the eccentric of two 88's passing between your legs from a chest level swing involves a lot of force. Great article.
