Maybe it's just me but when I get crappy sleep, I hit my PR's the next day. When I do get good sleep, the opposite happens.
 
What do you refer to as crappy sleep? You may be over sleeping on days that you think you are actually getting a goods night sleep. If you awake during rem sleep you are actually going to wake up less energized.

My definition is waking up every hour where rem is effected, I'm not saying this happens all the time but every now and then. But on those days for some odd reason I perform better.
