Article: 4 Reasons You Need Pre-Workout Carbohydrates

I'm with Frank Zane; bulking is lame.

The rhyme is a coincidence.

If you don't bulk, you won't have to cut. Slow and steady is a good approach to a nice physique.

Unless all you care about is weighing as much as possible, then bulk away!

I agree with both of you.

its all about bulking for a week or 2 with a couple/few days of a mini cut. roughly

I take it you call getting fat, bulking, and not just any caloric surplus?

I personally think beginners should cut and bulk. For their physique and to learn things about how they react to foods and certain "diets". Once you have a few years in, its probably best to stay in that very small caloric surplus for longer periods of time. I still consider that bulking, though. Bulking is gaining/growing, to me. Getting fat is getting fat. :D

I "bulked" last winter at roughly 500 cals above maintenance. At the end of the day I just felt and looked fatter. Lol.. Going with "staying lean" this winter with 4 or 5 month recomp plan. We will see???

The start of the article kind of contradicts the rest of it. Majority of fuel will come from glycogen stored in liver and muscle tissue from yesterday's post workout carbs. Carbs pre workout will only impair insulin sensitivity post workout, hormone release for fat loss and neurological drive. But hey, each to their own.

I think the most debatable thing in the whole "training and nutrition" world is pre workout carbs.. I personally don't need any carbs pre workout for energy purpose but others feel different? You could definitely read hundreds of things that argues for or against though???

i think you need to bulk when your young and have a fast metabolism but when you get older not so much
