Arachidonic acid while on anti inflammatory immunosuppressants.

I have an autoimmune condition and am taking tofacitinib to treat it. Tofacitinib is a Jak inhibitor which blocks the JAK STAT pathway, lowering inflammatory factors like:
  • Interleukin 2 (IL-2)
  • Interleukin 4 (IL-4)
  • Interleukin 6 (IL-6)
  • Interleukin 7 (IL-7)
  • Interleukin 9 (IL-9)
  • Interleukin 15 (IL-15)
  • Interleukin 21 (IL-21)
I have talked with steve previously if arachidonic acid would cause inflammation in me and he gave me great insight but now im a bit concerned if my medication would lower the effectiveness of arachidonic acid.

I know that taking ARA with anti inflammatory products neutralizes its pro inflammatory muscle growth effects, would it be the same for immunosuppressants which lower inflammation?

I'll tag @sns8778 since he is very knowledgeable about all this. If anyone can give their experiences with or opinions it would be much appreciated.

You said: I know that taking ARA with anti inflammatory products neutralizes its pro inflammatory muscle growth effects

I wouldn't say that this part is necessarily true. Science, learning, and knowledge have come a long way in the last 10 years and there's more to it than that as a blanket statement, but I gave up on trying to explain that here because when I have, most people don't seem interested in learning about it.

You said: would it be the same for immunosuppressants which lower inflammation?

I think there's a good chance it may vary by the person, medication, dosage, etc.

Knowing a bit about you and your history, I wouldn't suggest trying it to see - bc you're doing well and as someone with an autoimmune condition myself, I feel that if you finally have it under control, its not worth the risk of messing it up.

I think that there are other options that can give you the same or close to the same results without the chance.

That makes sense, I remember talking with you previously you said that ARA mainly increases localized inflammation. I couldn’t actually find any studies showing that supplementation with it increases systemic inflammation.

Would prime be a better alternative with the same benefits in terms of muscle growth? I know it’s better for the strength gains.

1000%

Prime XT would be a good option.
For pumps and fullness, a lot of people compare Alpha One to X-Gels.

Pepti-Bolic may be of interest to you too because it can help with inflammation - I use Pepti-Plex as part of my year round supplement regimen because it helps me tremendously with mine.

As @LucasBagoDoce said, Phosphatidic Acid XT is a good option as well.

I dont quite understand what you mean. So you want me to take ARA?
How come you take aspirin?
I thought anabeta elite was discontinued a long time ago?
I already take lecithin granules

Thanks for the stack recommendation. what do you notice from it?

Thanks for the insight. I ordered pa xt, anabolic xt, mtest and prime instead.
I do think arachidonic acid is effective at building muscle, especially when stacked with PA. But for me, the inflammation from the arachidonic acid was not worth it.
