ArA Joint Pain

hey guys i realise this is a supplement is part of many users stacks and a supp that they swear by. im just sharing a personal experience for the sake of discussion.

i bought ArA (sns xgels) and started using 4 caps per day which is the minimum and straight away i was experiencing joint pain, my elbow swell up like crazy, an old shoulder injury that hadn't bothered me in ages came back in a more mild form and during the time i was using ArA i developed patella tendonitis. i dont believe the supplement was responsible for the tendonitis but its an interesting coincidence.

i only used it for 2-3 weeks because the joint pain wasnt improving despite dosing a fish oil 8 hrs after the ArA and becauss it was affecting my training because of the aching. i really wanted this supp to work after its high praise on these forums along with the fact i spent $130+ for it online (im from aus) but now im left with a bottle and a half hahah.

i was just curious if other people had bad experiences with it aswell? i know people warn others of the joint pain but still, it shouldnt be to the point where it interferes with your training. i dont believe the supplement is nescessarily bad it just obviously didnt agree with me.

Maybe it just exacerbated what was already there?

That's the only reason I've avoided this Supp. I have tendinitis and some other issues that are kept in check but I'm afraid this will bring pain back

I've always had joint issues and I never really noticed them being a whole lot worse on X Gels.

yeah thats fair enough, i never had tendonitis prior which is frustrating since i still have the patella tendonitis now. im sure the supp has some benefits but i wouldnt go back to it as i'd be scared if if made things worse like you said.

Arachidonic Acid can flare up old joint problems quite quickly through increased inflammation. Some are able to run ArA with issues as you have described in your past while others cannot handle the pain.

You may be best to drop the ArA for good it seems.

i feel like i have a good pain tolerance its just not too pleasant having a swollen elbow, sore shoulder and knee. i saw the supp to be doing more harm than good and stopped using it to avoid getting another injury haha. yeah i understand that everyones different, the guys who have no problem with it are lucky because its supposed to be a worthwhile supplement from most accounts.

and yeah im dropping it for good dont worry haha

It is a very effective supplement but not for everyone.

interesting, i never had joint issues and noticed it to be a whole lot worse on xgels hahah. we are all different

Yeah it's pretty weird. It's a shame you aren't able to use it, I loved X Gels. if you weren't in Australia I'd be happy to take it off your hands! Lol

hahah yeah man i'd be willing to just give them away at this point, i told my mates at the gym that it was giving me issues and now they dont even want to try it ahah

Yea I think it all depends on the person whether it effect your joints or not. I always run a joint supp when on x gels though.

I had the same kind of issues when using it. My shoulder and elbow and knees started hurting and continued to get worse. When I stopped using it, everything still hurt for about a 3-4 days and then got better over the next day and then, no more pain. Just figured my body didn't like it.

I got a similar patella issue when using it. The worst was the lethargy and the loss of strength in the low rep ranges.

You are taking 4 a day, you could start taking it pre-workout only which may be enough for your discomfort to disappear. Besides, it is the recommended protocol.

yeah running a joint supp is a good idea, a little off topic but are there any supplements you'd reccommend for tendon and ligament health?

yeah thats similar to me, my shoulder recovered relatively quickly but my elbow took a little longer and my tendonitis in my knee is still bothering me months later haha. its obviously not for everyone

i didnt notice too much lethargy or loss of strength i just wasnt as enthusiastic about training due to the joint issues. i was taking them pre workout but its all good i dont plan on using x gels again haha

It won't cause tendonitis, but it is pro inflammatory, so it can exacerbate exisiting issues.

It doesn't happen for everyone, but for some it can definitely aggrevate issues.
