Anyone with a NASM cert??

yes hi i was just curious a little bit about the NASM test as i am about to take the test and had a couple questions,

- how long was the test
- what was it focusing primarily on
- how long did it take you to study the material
- and being certified how well has being a personal trainer treated you thus far?

i already have a job lined up with a good buddy who runs a gym by me and their are a very high amount of clients that constantly are coming in, and i realize i gotta sell myself and know my **** which wont be that hard to do because i am very good at getting along with people. so i just wanted some insider tips if possible lol.

a) - not that long: I think it took me about 45 min.

b) - everything, mostly; it DID NOT focus on exercises - bone up on your formulae.

c) - How long did it take, or how long did I spend? (*snrk*) I could maybe have done it in month, could have aced it in 3; took me close to 2 years to wrap it up & take the test (busy life).

d) - being a personal trainer has treated me very well so far, but I have special circumstances, in that I'm my only client (at the moment), and I'm a couple of different special populations. The results of my approach aren't visibly massive, but they're clear to anyone who meets me. This is the point of the effort: for people to look at me and say, "if he can go from being so sick & weak he could barely stand, (& depressed, to boot) to this strong, fit, energetic, engaged man I see before me, then I can, too!"

also the study guide the material comes with was that pretty much what the test was on?

yeah, if it's not in the materials, it's not on the test.
There's a lot of material that *isn't* on the test, BTW.

ob-fair-warning: I certified under the 2nd-edition materials. Have not seen the 3rd-edition (which you *may* be using)
