any legal issues with logging on neighbours airport?

I have a Mac and a sprint mobile anywhere DSL (a small wireless modem which you access the internet anywhere in the US) but recently, I found that my mac picked up my neighbors network and it is SOOOO much faster than the mobile internet.

Question is, are there any legal issues if so what? is there any way to remain 100% anonymous? any security risks? any programs for mac?

If your neighbor isnt smart enough to password protect his network, its doubtful that he would ever be able to catch you on his router.

I dont think there are any laws against this, but it would be likely a state/local law (varies from state to state). but its unlikely that this has been established yet. If you are using his signal and hacking into his pc, that might be illegal.

Security risks are that he can potentially access your computer, but again... doubtful that the person has this tech ability. Just dont save passwords or use his internet for any banking or personal accounts if you truly want to be cautious of your security. Check out a good firewall too.
 
Yea itll basically turn into how safe do you feel goin into his set-up? I mean if he doesnt have a pass on his wireless connect i wouldt trust it unless it really is THAT much better thatn what you have.

I did this for awhile. We didnt have wirless at ym house for awhile after i got my laptop so i just searched around and i picked up 3 signasl, 2 locked 1 not. Needless to say, i was in business.

Its not illegal because you are not gaining access illegally. And if anything where to happen you can claim you didnt know you comp just grabbed that signal wince i was the strongest... :)
