Legs Hypertrophy

Decided I want to go higher rep on my hypertrophy leg days. Also, went lighter on the RDL because I paused at the bottom. I did not want to use the stretch reflex, definitely felt it more in my hamstrings. Also, on the landmine squats, I paused at the bottom and did not lock out at the top to keep constant tension on my quads.

Great session today. Last time I did a 5x5 on Military Presses, I went with 110, the same weight as today, but had to drop the weight for the last two sets. I was able to get all 5 sets done at 110, very happy with that.

Lower Power

I decided to drop the low rep leg press. My knees do not like them. Instead, I decided to go with ox squats. I used the lowest box (your standard box that looks like a stool but with a square top). These absolutely kicked my ass. I tried not to use momentum to come back up. For example, I tried not to rock back after sitting and then forward or propel myself up. I did that for the first few reps. These took a lot out of me. The rest or my session was harder than normal.

AntM Reviews Labrada Lean Pro Whey

Invalid Link Removed

Taste - This was the vanilla ice cream flavor. The taste was pretty neutral in terms of sweetness. It had a touch of sweetness to it, but nothing jaw dropping. I would say the flavor is average. Nothing stands out to make you say I need to have this again, but nothing says this is bad either.

Profile - Very good. 120 cals, 1g fat, 4g carb and 24 protein per scoop.

Mixability - Mixes perfect. Very thin though. Leads me to believe there is mostly isolate in there.

Overall - This powder is a little expensive, but that is because the primary protein source is isolate. By the consistency, I would say that it is very isolate heavy, which some may like. To me, it makes no difference. With that in mind, if one is looking for an isolate or something that is mostly isolate, I would go with this. However, keep in mind, the flavor is pretty average. Nothing that will stand out.7/10

Hahaha just so you know, I used your review template as the base for the reviews in my own log. Love your reviews.

Thanks man. One thing I would add to my protein reviews, I forgot this past one, was a section for price. The one reason why I don't usually put it is because we all shop at different places.

Push Hypertrophy

Weight - 150

Weight was the same again. I guess that is better than it being down. I will be increasing cals again this week.

Another thing I am going to do differently is switch my Sunday low carb day and Monday's high carb day. My pull workouts are usually very good. I'm curious to see if they will be even better. I personally believe that the day before helps with the next day's session. I do not need a high carb da before lower hypertrophy and think it will benefit my heavy pulling day.

Pull Power

I killed this session today. Last time I did a 7x3, my top set was 350. I was able to hit 355 today for two sets. There was no way 360 was happening for 3. The two sets at 355 were tough, but doable. My form seemed on point today. Instead of just pulling the weight up, I was really able to feel myself pulling up and back at the same time.

AntM Reviews HIT Supplements BUILT

Invalid Link Removed.

Mixability - Perfect as you can see.

Profile - This is not for the faint of heart. 300mg of caffeine, 15mg of NMT (to help with focus) and 10mg yohimbine hcl. Those ingredients, along with others, contribute to the energy/focus aspect of BUILT. Some of the other ingredients are 250mg agmatine, and 3g of CM. No creatine and a fully open label.

Energy/Focus - Perfect for me. I had a heavy pull session today and went fasted. I hit a little more, number wise, on my deadlift and my energy was great despite training fasted and it being a heavy day. Focus was also great.

Pumps - Nothing extra here.

Taste - The flavor was green apple. I have had some other green apple flavored supplements before and they are usually just a tad too sweet or tart. BUILT had the perfect blend of sweetness and tartness in 8 oz of water. I would not change a thing.

Overall - I would recommend this product for those looking for a stim heavy product. Do not expect the get an extra pump or at least anything mind blowing. The ingredients that would aid in that would need to be doubled, but then that would put caffeine at a dose I would not recommend. I am stim tolerant and a single scoop was perfect for me. I love that the label is open and that there is no added creatine. The taste is perfect also. The only thing I would add is more agmatine or take that and the arginine out and add 2g of glycerol. Either one of those would make the product perfect.9/10

AntM Reviews Neon Sports Kinetic

Taste - The flavor was Lemon Berry. It had a pretty strong lemon flavor, but as soon as I was getting ready to get smacked with the extra sweetness a lemon has, that was cut by a different flavor. It was not bad, but I wouldn't say it was a berry flavor.

Profile - 6.5 grams of amino acids total. 4g come from silk amino acids and 2.5 grams come from BCAA. I cannot tell if the SAA improve my recovery or do anything that a normal amino product would do since this was just a sample. I do like the inclusion of LCLT too, but the dose is way too low.

Overall - Seems like a good product is is competitively priced. I would give it a shot. The flavor was not my favorite thing. Not that it is bad, just not my cup of tea. 8/10

Legs Hypertrophy

We got a winter mix last night, needless to say, I busted my ass this morning. The way my body twisted and turned felt good though. I seemed to loosen me up nicely!

The pump I had this morning was epic. I rained fasted and yesterday was a low carb day, but the pump was borderline painful, almost a negative for my training. One cold see my leg veins through my dark grey compression pants, I wish I had my white ones on to see all of it!

AntM Reviews AI Sports 100% Whey Protein

Invalid Link Removed

Taste - This was the cinnamon bun flavor. As a fat kid, I loved nothing more than going to Cinnabun at the mall every time I went. Nothing was better than those warm, fatty and gooey cinnamon rolls.

This is by far the best cinnamon based protein I have ever had. It tastes just like a cinnamon bun. It has the perfect sweetness and perfectly resembles the cinnamon, the dough and the icing. As soon as I had it, I had a mental image of the center of a cinnamon bun in my head.

Profile - Very good. 126 cals, 2g fat, 5g carb and 22 protein per scoop.

Mixability - Mixes perfect. A little on the thicker side, which is fine by me. I prefer a thicker base.

Overall - This powder is a little on the higher end in terms of price. It is slightly more than a dollar a serving. Price usually does play a factor for me. With that in mind, I have rarely had a protein powder that blows my mind from the first time I tried it. I would not paying a little more for this powder. I do not paying a little more for something I would enjoy using and would not grow tired of. Do yourself a favor and buy the Cinnamon Bun AI Sports 100% Whey. 10/10

AntM Reviews Ronnie Coleman Yeah Buddy

Invalid Link Removed.

Mixability - Perfect as you can see.

Profile - This is the new formula. It has a Pump and Endurance blend of 3.5g total. In that blend is 2g beta alanine, 1g cirtuline and 500mg of agmatine. I would like to see all three ingredients about doubled or so in order to get adequate doses of each. A Focus blend of Choline at 550mg and TeaCrine at 50mg. Extended release caffeine at 420mg and a prop blend of various ingredients in the "Yeah Buddy Bomb."

Energy/Focus - Perfect at a single scoop.

Pumps - A little better, but nothing great.

Taste - The flavor was electric lemonade. It has a very strong lemonade flavor in 8 ounces of water. I am not the biggest fan of lemonade unless it is not too sweet. This is pretty sweet and has a strong lemonade flavor. I wish it was lemon and lime, I think that would be killer. It is by no means bad. Lemonade fans will love it.

Overall - I would recommend this product for those looking for a stim heavy product. The labl does not disclose how many grams a serving is. The old formula was 6 grams, so that is what I was using. At 6 grams, energy and focus were amazing. I am naturally stim tolerant, so if a single scoop is enough for me, most other users probably wouldn't even need that much. That would make this product pretty wallet friendly, I would just add some bulk glycerol or agmaine to help with pumps to make it a complete product. The flavor was not for me, it isn't bad, I'm just not the biggest fan of lemonade. All in all, a great stim product, but I would advise those who do not need a stim heavy product to start with a half scoop. 8/10

I had a somewhat nice surprise at work today. About half way through our first period, one of the administrators got on the loud speaker to announce we were having an early dismissal. I have no idea why schools did this today. There was some snow in the forecast, but not until later and the chance of it turning to snow was not likely. Oh well, I'm not going to complain.

AntM Reviews Controlled Labs Venture Bars/

Invalid Link Removed

Invalid Link Removed

Profile

The profile is very similar to the leading protein bars out there currently. The bar is 67 grams, a little larger than a Quest or Mission 1 Bar. The bar contains 230 cals 10g of fat, 28g of carbs, 18g of fiber and 20g of protein. Depending on the flavor, macros will be a little different, but they are in the same ballpark.

Price

Venture Bars are priced around $22-$25 a box, which is the same price as Quest and Mission 1 Bars.

Texture/consistency

The bar is softer than a Quest Bar and a touch softer than the Mission 1 bars. With those two bars, if I have one straight out of the wrapper, I need to keep it in my pocket to make it softer. That is not needed with the Venture Bar. However, it does take on a laffy taffy texture in terms of chewiness. For the sake of this review, I did not warm it up or keep it in my pocket prior to eating it. I think if I had it in my pocket, it would not have been as chewy. The texture is also pretty much the same. It is that smooth bar with some mix ins, in this case peanuts. I do like the addition of peanuts because one, I like the flavor and two, it gives the bar some texture and breaks up the monotonous smooth texture. However, I wish there were more peanuts in the bar.

Taste

This is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge flavor. I am not the biggest fan of chocolate, but I love peanut butter. I can tolerate chocolate when there is enough peanut butter. With that said, there is enough peanut butter flavor. I would say the combo is 65/35 in terms of chocolate to peanut butter. Although when you get a peanut in the bite, I would say the ratio goes to 60/40. This is why I would like more peanut mix ins.

As soon as I took a bite, I was hit with peanut butter. My tastes buds love that. The more I chewed, the more the chocolate would come through and the peanut butter flavor would dissipate. Every single bite was like that. I only wish the peanut butter flavor stayed throughout the entire experience.

Overall

My rating is taking into consideration the bar and the flavor. First, the bar is great. It is priced nicely, macro friendly and has a great taste. I do enjoy the flavor, the chocolate is not overwhelming and the peanut butter is not hidden. I just wish there was more peanut butter.

I would make one change to this bar and I believe this single change would change the bar in two ways. I would add more peanut mix ins. I believe this would make for a better experience. I can't lie, but I enjoy the texture of NuGo, Carb Killa, Fit Crunch and Detour bars more because they have a crunch to them. There is texture to the bar that Quest, Mission 1 and Venture bars do not have, In addition, I believe that the extra peanuts would add more peanut butter flavor to the bar. I still have the give Venture bars an 8.5, I knew what the bars would be, texture wise, so I cannot take points off for that. This flavor falls just short of perfect in my book, mostly due to flavor preference. 8.5/10

I'm surprised you like the Venture Bars. Got a lot of lukewarm reviews so far.

same here... I tried the cpbf last night and hated it...

I honestly enjoyed them. The oiliness did not bother me like most. I just wish the texture wasn't so plain. I would put these up there with Quest Bars. Depending on what flavors are available to me, I would take a Quest Bar over this bar. However, Detour, NuGo, Promax, Irvine, Grenade Bars >>>>>>>>>>Quest/Muscletech/CL because of texture.

I honestly think the the Venture Bars people were expecting something different and exciting because of the hype and the wait. When I saw pictures starting to pop up, I had Quest written all over them. My expectations were not as high once they started popping up.

Pull Hypertrophy

I woke up so hungry this morning which rarely happens.

Training today felt very easy, almost effortless. Also, endurance seems to have increased a good amount. My first exercise was supposed to be 7x8. Not only did I increase the weight mid way through, I performed 9 or 10 sets, all for 8 reps. I wrote down 9 sets, but it could have been 10. Also, my pump seemed better than normal. Can't wait for tomorrow!

For those new to the log, I perform these tbar rows with an attachment that lets me row with a double overhand grip, not a neutral grip. This allows for better ROM. I also only use 25 pound plates for better ROM.

Lower Power

I did the same thing today as yesterday. I definitely did 8 sets of squats. However, I think I forgot to write one set down, so I performed another set just to make sure. So I either did 8x2 or 9x2.

Also, next week is my deload week. The past deloads have not been real deloads. I have only deloaded the first two lifts on my heavy days. I am going to deload every lift, heavy and hypertrophy days, at 70% of the weight I would use this week. My volume will stay the same and I will not go to failure. I may however increase reps if I feel good.

Weight - 151

Weight is up 1 pound. I am going to keep cals the same this week and see what happens. It is a deload week, so I won't be posting my training. Nutrition will stay the same as last week, so that is already on record too.

Quick update.

I cannot wait for this deload to be over. Training has been very good pump wise, but I feel lazy! One "bad" thing is my right hip abductor. When I do some stretches for it, I notice it is a little tender. It has been like that since Wednesday. On Tuesday, I had a hypertrophy leg day, but didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I notice the "pain" when I do the stretch below, no, that is not me in the picture. It is not so much a pain, but I feel like the muscle has been overused/overstretched. I may go lighter than 60% for squats tomorrow. Like I said, it is not painful, just feels overstretched.

Profile

The profile is very similar to the leading protein bars out there currently. The bar is 69 grams, a little larger than a Quest or Mission 1 Bar. The bar contains 220 cals 9g of fat, 30g of carbs, 20g of fiber and 20g of protein. Depending on the flavor, macros will be a little different, but they are in the same ballpark.

Price

Venture Bars are priced around $22-$28 a box, which is the same price as Quest and Mission 1 Bars.

Taste

This was the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor. I was pretty disappointed with it. Despite having a decent amount of chocolate chips, it did not really have a chocolate chip taste. It pretty much tasted like plain cookie dough. It was not bad, but a little too plain and didn't have the advertised taste.

Overall

My rating is taking into consideration the bar and the flavor. I would not suggest this particular flavor. I would say this is below the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge flavor. Nothing about this stood out, it was very plain. The chocolate chips need more of a flavor to them, the bar was overall lacking in that department.7/10

Profile

The profile is solid on these. Depending on the flavor, the macros are slightly different, but they are all low in fat, moderate in carbs and protein. This particular flavor was a 53 gram bar, 2 grams of fat, 29 grams of carbs, 13 grams of fiber and 13 grams of protein.

Price

You can find these for $18-$25 per box.

Texture/consistency

These bars are EXTREMELY soft. Out of the wrapper, I could easily roll it into a bar if I wanted to. It still have a very monotone texture. However, these is a nice fruit filling in the middle of these. If it is not a fruit flavor, then the middle is filled with whatever the flavor is advertised as. The texture is boring and I wish there was some texture.

Taste

This was the Apple Pie ala Mode flavor. Upon opening the wrapper, I could smell some cinnamon. When biting into the bar, I was hit with cinnamon, which is a good thing. I love cinnamon and ideally, if one was to bake this dish, there would be cinnamon. The apple flavor was very faint. I wish the apple presence was a little stronger. The flavor was good, but needed more of an apple flavor to really get that Apple Pie flavor.

Overall

My rating is taking into consideration the bar and the flavor. I would suggest this flavor, but I would tell you to be very wary about the apple flavor and do not get your hopes up too high. Yes, it does resemble an apple pie, but one with a lot of dough and cinnamon, but with minimal apples. To get that apple flavor and to give the bar more texture, maybe put apple chips in the bar. 7/10

Taste

This was the PBJ flavor. I love peanut butter, but I am not the biggest fan of jelly. As soon as you take the initial bite, you taste the peanut butter. It is very noticeable, but not overwhelming. As you chew on it a little, the jelly comes through. As you are about the swallow the piece you have in your mouth, you are hit with the PB again. I would say it is about a 65/35 ratio or peanut butter to jelly. The taste is perfect. If I was to make a PBJ sandwich, this is exactly how I would make it, more peanut butter than jelly.

Overall

My rating is taking into consideration the bar and the flavor. I would suggest this flavor any anyone that loves PBJ sandwiches and also to those that love peanut butter. Again, it could use more texture, but taste wise, macro wise and price wise, this bar is perfect. 10/10

Weight - 153.8

Weight is up 2.3 pounds from last week. Not surprised due to the deload. I do not mind either. I look a lot fuller and feel good minus my hip. My hip felt fine yesterday during legs and felt fine today. Post training, I went to do some of my stretches and tried the stretch I pictured the other day, but noticed the pain again. Now I have it. Like I said, it is not so much a pain, but an annoyance. Even when I just raise my leg up to my side, I feel what I would note as weakness. Somehow, I over worked it during my deload. I am not going to do that stretch for at least a week.

This week is when I go for my new maxes! I want to hit 410 on deadlift, but really want 415. I want 320 on my squat, but we'll see what happens with the hip and I want 195 on incline bench.

Pull Power

Today's session was great! I was scheduled to test my 1RM on deadlifts. Last time, I was going for 410. I pulled it off the ground, had it below my knees, but could not get it past that. I wanted to hit at least 410 today, mission accomplished. I went for 420 after, bad idea! I pulled it off the ground, but felt my back round right away, so I let it go. I wasn't going to risk hurting myself. I may have been able to get 415, if I did not go for the 410, but who knows. I'm happy I set that "PR". I'm also happy I was able to get 420 off the ground.

Also, the weights I used or reps for everything else was greater than the last week, prior to the deload. The only thing that did not increase weight wise or rep wise were both types of pullups. However, I am 3.8 pounds heavier. The fact that I could hit the same reps at a heavier weight is progress.

The pump today was unreal and so were my veins during my workout. I could not believe how much the veins were popping despite the low reps.

Hit 195 today on incline. That is 10 pounds more than the last time I tried a 1RM. I then went for 200, but failed. I got it off my chest, but had the spotter grab it. On the 195, I got a lift off, but I did not ask for one on the 200. Although I like lift offs, the help me save some energy, this guy really lifted a substantial amount of weight from the bar. When it transferred to me, it was a complete shock. I don't like lifts for that reason, I like to feel the weight and I can keep myself in position. Even if I did ask for a lift on the 200, it was not going to go up. I did a lot of back down sets to. the final set, I did two rest pause sets.

I was shocked with my military press today as well. Last time I hit a 5x5, I used 110 pounds for all five sets. Today, I was able to use 115 and bar speed was very good. I was contemplating going to 120 for the final set, but decided not to.

Once again, either the weight used or reps increased. However, reps and weight stayed the same on dips, but I am heavier than the last time I did weighted dips.

Sugar Cookie was decent if I can remember correctly, still I wouldn't buy their line over Quest personally. I'm a huge Quest fan though, don't know if you are as well.

This. Sugar cookie was the best of the line and even at best it was just slightly better than average. I wouldn't buy them again either

I do like Quest, but I have yet to try the reformulated bars. That may change my mind once I do.

I still stand by Grenade Carb Killa though and Detour bars. I need something with more texture than Quest, Mission 1 and Venture bars.

One B-Day Cake and FitCrunch(any flavour) should give you some texture if that's what you crave. I have a ONE bar review in my thread, also I'm putting up a FitCrunch B-Day review up there tonight as well, along with the Burn24 review that I promised long ago.

you have a review log...??? haha

Hahahah man I had so much going on. I'm writing it up as we speak. Also Windows10 really threw me for a loop. It took me a LONG while to try to get it like how I want it, like I did with Windows7, and I'm still not all the way there.

I want Windows XP back. I won't forget when I had to go from XP to Windows 8.1 two years ago, I felt like such a computer noob.

Weight - 156.4

Weight is up 2.6 pounds from last week. Everything moved smoothly today. I feel a lot stronger and like my endurance is high as well. I decided that I am going to take a stim break. I know I just took a week long one two weeks ago, during my deload, but that was only a week long. I haven't had a substantial amount of time off pre workouts since September. I am going to take about 3-4 weeks off. The only thing I will consume with caffeine is 1 green tea bag per day and that is just for the health benefits.

Killed it today. I had 5x5 bench at 70-80% of my 1 rep max. I was able to go heavier than that though. The last time I did a 5x5 on incline bench, my top set was 150 lbs for 7 reps, today was 165 for 6 reps. That is a huge increase in 5 weeks.

On military presses, I hit 115 for 5,5,4 reps last time I went for a 3x5, this time I hit 125 for 5 on the first set then 120 for 5 on the second and third set.

You'll notice I did go lighter on dips from last week to this week, but I was focusing on the stretch and really going below parallel. With the 70 pounds strapped to me, I was just hitting parallel and wanted to work on that stretch.
