Anti-Aging Supplements - Anyone Interested?

We've had people mention quite a few times in our 'Tell Us What You'd Like to See From Us' thread that they would like to see us do some anti-aging supplements. The thing is, the term anti-aging means different things to different people so there's no one certain way to go about that. So that led me to the thought of trying to have a discussion thread about anti-aging supplements if anyone is interested.

Feel free to post anything you'd like to related to the topic, but I'll start off by asking a couple of questions:

1) What type of supplement ingredients do you think of when you think of anti-aging supplements?

2) What does the term anti-aging supplement mean to you?

3) What types of supplements (or ingredients) would you like to see from us as an anti-aging supplement?

There are so many interesting ingredients in this category depending on what you take this category to mean. I have a lot of ingredients I would like to throw out there for discussion but I want to see what others say and contribute first. I don't want my ideas to influence anyone else's.

I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts and opinions and hope to get good participation if its something people are interested in.

Does He shou wu can be use as an anti aging supplement? What are your taugh on it?

I think that anything can be used as an anti-aging supplement because we all probably have different and unique definitions of what anti-aging means to us.

I haven't looked into this one enough to have a strong opinion but just put it on my list of things to research so I definitely will.

What's your opinion on it from what you've seen?

Supplements designed to reduce advanced glycation end products (AGEs).

Any suggestions or ones that pique your interest?

I haven't looked into this as much as I'd like to but the ones I've read the most on for this are PQQ, Taurine, and Benfotiamine. And I think Benfotiamine is a very underrated supplement imo.

Benfotiamine is the only one I've read anything about.

Benfotiamine is the only one I've read anything about.

We're actually going to be using that in a cardiovascular health formula that we are doing in the next few months. It has a great variety of benefits from what I've researched so far.

Subbed.. I turn 50 in 6 months and noticed yesterday that my skin elasticity isn't what it used to be.

l-ergothioneine
Fisetin
Apigenin
pterostilbene
Glutathione
Astaxanthin
Rhodiola
Fullerene c60
Quercetin
Rosmaric acid
Turmeric

Absolutely interested, turning 43 this year and although im not feeling it yet im all for postponing the inevitable!

It is use in China, to boost longevity, it is suppose to be high in Superoxide Dismutase. I am a fan of adaptogen like, rhodiola, shilajit, panax ginseng, aswhaghanda etc. Back in the day the already knew the power of the adaptogen and there use seem to be getting up to speed now and day. He shou suppose to be a great anti aging, but all I know is what I found on the internet.

I'm in and would love to see pterostilbene. Maybe a blend with resveratrol

I've thought about it before but was leaning towards it in a combination product because there are so many brands of it as a single ingredient already out there. I had thought about putting it with Resveratrol or maybe include both with something else.

I'm open to ideas.

I just turned 43 and feel old enough for both of us haha

I like adaptogens myself and will definitely try to look into this more. I've heard of it, but not super familiar with it.

Very interested here. I’m only part way through a Rogan podcast with Dr David Sinclair but these are some that he suggests

NMN + Resveratrol: 1 g of NMN and 0.5 g of resveratrol every morning mixed in with some yogurt. ...
Vitamin D + K2.
Metformin: 1 g at Night.

Telomere elongation focused supp sounds nice?

I agree. It does. Any ingredient suggestions?

I've been reading into this a lot lately. I have my own ideas for this but don't want mine to influence anyone else's.

Thanks. I have a hard time sitting through podcasts so I'd love to hear anything else suggested.

NMN is something I'm interested in, but 1 gram a day is very pricey.

Beware - I'm seeing some NMN brands pop up on Amazon that are claiming to sell 500 mg. caps at less than it actually costs to make them. Amazon kicks them off then they pop up under a different label.

Resveratrol I think is very underrated.

Vitamin D - I take separately bc of a deficiency. We will be using Vitamin D + Vitamin K2 in our cardiovascular support product.

Metformin is a drug, not a supplement, so not going to touch on that one.

Good suggestions. We are using a lot of them in upcoming projects and some we already do use in some things. But I'm also open to ideas as to incorporating them into anti-aging supplements as well.

Apigenin we will be using in several things.

Pterostilbene I'm interested in using in some things.

Rhodiola we use in Stress & Anxiety Support and are considering doing a single ingredient product of NNB's RhodioPrime.

Quercetin we will be using in some things, although an advanced form of it.

Turmeric/Curcumin we use in Joint Support XT and will be using in several upcoming Health Series projects. And we will also be releasing Elite Curcumin soon, which contains 3 different clinically researched, branded forms of Curcumin + more.

Ok thanks! I hadn’t heard of anything of them except vit D of course. Great getting your thoughts on them and I’m very interested to see what else people suggest and then what creation you come up with!

This thread could lead to one product, multiple products, no products, or even a complete series of products. The term anti-aging is used so much and means different things to different people so I'm curious to see what ideas people have and what they would want. And if possible, I'll be glad to offer them :)

I already have a couple of really cool anti-aging formulas planned and am curious to see if those types of ideas or ingredients pop up in this thread, which is why I don't want to give out my ideas yet in it bc I don't want to sway things a certain way.

Any suggestions on this?

And thank you for the contribution. Skin Elasticity seems to be common concern in terms of anti-aging with a lot of people.

Anything that would activate sirt1 and sirt6 would be cool.
Potent SIRT1 Enzyme-stimulating and Anti-glycation Activities of Polymethoxyflavonoids from Kaempferia parviflora

A recent Invalid Link Removed1, conducted by Tokiwa Phytochemical and the University of Tokyo, found that a proprietary extract of Kaempferia parviflora (Sirtmax from Maypro Industries; Purchase, NY), known as Thai black ginger, directly interacts with and stimulates sirtuin 1 (Sirt1). Sirt1, also known as NAD+-dependent deacetylase Sirt1, is a protein that has been shown in animal models to play a critical role in reducing the risk of age-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, neurodegeneration, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. The protein drives many cellular activities such as energy metabolism, cell survival, DNA stability, inflammation, and circadian rhythm. Known as the longevity gene, the Sirt1 gene recharges mitochondria, says Maypro.

There is very little evidence that anything will actually proling our lives. What we can do is focus on our health while we age: Joint support, blood pressure/cholesterol support, balanced diet, exercise etc.

For me I am often very disappointed in the lack of anti-aging cosmetics in the bodybuilding/fitness world. The sun will reek havoc on your skin via photo aging. So will other environmental factors. Loss of moisture as you age, decrease in collagen production. There should be a big focus on skin health in this thread. Both topically and via oral route. The skin is our biggest organ after all

I think that's a good example of anti-aging meaning something different to different people. Some people do consider it to mean products that extend life while others consider it to be products that improve quality of life.

I'm definitely open to skin health suggestions, especially via the oral route.

Great suggestion. I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Again I am not sure this is of value since I am not good to read and comprehend scientific paper.

I'll research it more thoroughly but it basically shows premise that some of the constituents may be very valuable but the abstract doesn't state at what percentages or doses so I'll have to try to find the full paper and see if it specifies that.

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. And sometimes, its at realistic dosages and sometimes it turns out to be things that look great in a study but may not be cost effective to translate over into an real world effective dose or standardization.

Post anything like that you'd like though and I'm making a list and when I have time I'm going to read more into it.

i will be 63 in a month and a half and see a lot of guys my age who used to have good muscle tone now walking around with sagging skin on their arms where muscle has atrophied...i started anabolic effect a few weeks ago and will run cycles of it couple times a year to prevent this from happening to me...KME has studies showing that it can prevent muscle atrophy.

if you are doing a anti-aging supplement i think KME and other ingredients that could prevent muscle atrophy would be nice additions.

Thank you. That's a good idea. Like an anti-aging muscle builder/muscle retention product with possible some skin health possabilities to it?

I think that could be a good unique idea.

yes, not only could it be used by older guys like me but also by guys post surgery, recovering from injuries to prevent muscle atrophy while not able to lift.

Hmmm, I’m guessing grape seed extract would be a nice add on !

I don’t have much to offer as I am not very knowledgeable on the subject, but I will be following along as I would be interested in an anti-aging product.

I know that Rhonda Patrick had talked a lot about the anti-aging (I think related to telemere length) and general health benefits of sulforaphane and I have been intrigued by that. I have intermittently tried to eat enough broccoli sprouts to get a good dose, but availability is sporadic where I live and I don’t really like them. . .

I'm currently using NMN at 1g daily plus Resveratrol. Toniiq brand for both. Anti-aging is a category I am very interested in to help offset the age accelerating effects of PEDs and a hypertrophic/bodybuilding lifestyle. The term is often misused, though. For example, HGH is often described as being for anti-aging when in actuality it promotes aging. It has "youthful" benefits but will technically shorten lifespan.

OG Stoked formula or even a variation of ingredients. If I knew who they sourced from I'd just buy the bulk forms. Tried building my own when they discontinued it. It was anti-aging in the keep your younger fiance category. Plus in the weightroom and in life the wellbeing feel made it a year round supplement. Like put it next to the fish oil important.

We have some great options in the libido and sense of well-being categories and have several more coming out - Optimize-T, Libido Support XT, etc. These could definitely qualify as anti-aging in the above sense.

We also offer a lot of single ingredient options in that sense - Spilanthes XT, Furosap XT, KSM66, Pine Pollen, Bulbine Caps, and more.

Thank you for following a long. Sometimes the best ideas come from those that aren't very knowledgeable on a subject bc they provide a perspective that others may overlook. Like in this case, anti-aging means something different to different people.

Telomere length is a a big thing in anti-aging and longevity discussions now.

I hate broccoli haha.

Being 42, having a 9 year old and a 2 year old, I need this big time. I am actually planning to talk to my doctor in January, soonest I can get a visit, about signs of low T and other such symptoms. Little energy to make it through the day, trouble losing weight, lifting is harder, sore and stiff after work.

M-Test helps me a lot with libido and feeling better throughout the day and at the gym. I have an endocrinology condition that's pretty complex and M-Test has helped a lot with my free testosterone levels, which is why I use it year round.

We also have Optimize-T coming out in a few weeks that will be good for that as well.

Thank you for the contribution to the thread and following along. Different perspectives are helpful because even though we do provide some products towards some of the issues like this, it gives me ideas of how we can possibly approach future projects from different angles. We may make a some anti-aging specific products, an anti-aging series of products, or possibly even a separate line of them.

That's a good dose of NMN but expensive as crap haha.

Definitely agree on the HGH comments. It may help with quality of life but not extending life. Which goes to further show though how the definition of anti-aging varies by person.

Have you looked into telomere research much?

Blueberry and pomegranate.

For what it’s worth, I added Life Extension’s Pomegranate Complete to my daily supplement intake a few months ago. Like many others, I consume a decent amount of vitamins and minerals in an effort to remain as healthy as I can, but have always been in the “pre-hypertension” category when checking my BP. It seems that this supplement was the one that finally put me in normal range and I’ve remained there since starting. My average morning BP is now 110/62. Pomegranate has several other health benefits as well.

As was mentioned several times, the definition of anti-aging varies from person to person, but keeping BP in normal ranges will certainly help extend your life. It may not fit into everyone’s definition of anti-aging. Something like this would be a great addition to your lineup if it’s not already in something.
