Andro and hair loss drugs

Hey guys,

Might be a terrible question but if I'm taking a DHT blocker due to hereditary hair loss issues, what would happen if I started taking EPI-andro? Would the Hair loss drug inhibit epi from actually doing anything as it converts to DHT?

Thanks

Usually you block the building of DHT due to 5-alpha-reduction. Epiandro converts through different enzymes to DHT so a 5-alpha-reductase-inhibitor has no effect on Epiandro and your hair will thin

So its essentially what DHT blocker you use exactly to tell you what problems will or could aeise.

Epi-androsterone is already 5-alpha reduced, so a 5-ar inhibitor will have no effect on that specific process.

As was mentioned, you'll need to be more specific on what type of "DHT blocker" you are taking.

Thanks guys, not taking anything for hair loss at the moment. I do however have hereditary hair loss so was considering taking something for it, but I want to do an EPI cycle early next year. I'll start the hair drugs after that cycle.

You may only see some mild shedding on Epi-A, and you may also see some aggressive shedding. There's no real way to tell in advance. The use of topical AR (Androgen receptor) blockers such as ketoconazole and azelaic acid would be helpful here. Again, no way to know the degree of their effectiveness.

I can offer some feedback here: I also have hereditary hair loss, and I am in my 40s... so, I have around 50% hair left on top of my head. Yet, Epiandro did not make it worse at all. There's zero difference pre- and post- andro. Of course, that's just me. Someone else might have a full head of hair and experience some hair loss on anything DHT-related. It's strange how that works. At this point I simply stopped caring about it, since I'm half-bald anyway. Nothing I can do about it.

As a late 30's MPB thinning male here is the hearsay evidence I've seen on the boards...

Epi-Andro doesn't appear to affect hair loss.
Some complaints of shedding with 1-Andro. (Seems temporary?)

There's mounting evidence that gravity and pressure play a bigger role on hair loss than DHT. Local DHT is just the body's response to the damage of gravity.

I will add, that increasing the circulating levels of DHT hasn't been studied in detail. Bodybuilders typically try to avoid androgenic and DHT effects. I see the appeal of DHT, especially because I play competitive sports, but there's still a few question marks out there imo.

That depends. If a particular follicle had already miniaturized (from MPB) and the epiandro was it's undoing, it will likely come back worse off than before (peach fuzz consistency), or not at all. It really depends on the state of the follicle before, as well as the hormonal environment of the scalp during the dormant (telogen phase).

If, for whatever reason, a drastic hormonal fluctuation (PH/steroid use) signaled an early end to the anagen phase of a particular and otherwise healthy hair follicle, that particular follicle will likely comeback as it was before.

Time, genetics, and individual conversion to DHT will dictate individual results. Epiandro is a two-step conversion to DHT and that conversion is reversible as well. The precursors/intermediates of DHT are also active hormones, but are noted to be considerably less androgenic than DHT.

In a nutshell, if you currently suffer some degree of MPB and see hair shedding while using epiandro, some will come back as they were before and others will not. If you have no history of MPB and you shed on Epiandro (or other steroids), that hair will likely come back as it was before.

As always. YMMV! :]

I was hoping running a gram of Andro's would speed up my hereditary hair loss. it didn't do anything unfortunately. I'm at the stage where I've lost enough hair to keep the scalp shaven but not enough to not need to shave lol. For the OP you could look into localized DHT blocking such as DHT shampoos. Worst case scenario and you do lose some hair there's some killer wigs floating about these days.

ericos_bob, did you try 1-Andro, some mixed shedding results with that. I'm in the same boat as you brother. Once it gets worse I just want it all to go Stone-Cold-style.

Again, similar to Epiandro, 1-Andro did nothing to my hairline. Me and Bob seem to be in the same boat. I'll just wait until this thin hair just falls out on its own, then I'll shave my head. I have a killer collection of flat caps, people say I look good in them. :)

I started thinning out at 18 so I was always doomed to a life without lush locks lol. I'm 30 now and probably about a 3rd way to completely bald though being shaven it'd be more difficult to notice any minor hair loss from andro products. Was running a tri-split of 1-andro,4-andro and Epi for a 1000mg.
