I did a var only cycle a while back at 50mg/day. It was good, but the gains were really hard to keep (common prob with orals, at least for me). The second time I used var I stacked it with test c running the var on the back end of the 14-weeks cycle, running right up until the start of PCT. I ran var with test at 80mg/day... it was a much better run. However, at 80mg/day the lower back pumps were almost more than I could take. I still pushed it in the gym and got through it, but it huuuurt!
Var is also commonly used in a test/tren cycle, which is the direction I will be going this spring.
