635 Raw Deadlift

This felt surprisingly easy. It was also an off day for me, I was testing my maxes as we are 3 weeks out from the meet, and I went for 545 squat and nearly missed it. It went up so slow, but a month ago I did it really fast. So needless to say, today my leg and back strength weren't at 100%. Even still, this is a 35 lb PR. I deadlifted 600 last year at a meet, and this felt so much easier than that one.

It seems like my deadlift is going up 50 lbs a year. 1st meet I got 551, 2nd I got 601, this meet I will go for 650 or maybe more.

Nice. Enjoy the Rob Zombie music as all we get in my gym is Whitney Houston.

On some of my other vids where I am lifting in the White Building, it's like Miley Cyrus and **** playing in the background. This was a nice change.

I remember the first time I ever deadlifted 545, Britney Spears was playing.

I hope they let Tank do the music for the Iron Lion again.

Great lift bro! Your lower back seemed like it arched up farther than I do mine. Maybe lowering your butt some more would add just a little more to your PR! Do you ever do any training without your belt? I dont use a belt and could probably get about 560ish. Soon I will implement one for my training!

My lower back was strait. My upper back was a little arched, but that's normal.

I always train without my belt. I only use a belt when going for a belted PR.

It looked easy for you. Nice job. If you have the money, pick up a pair of deadlift slippers. They're basically socks with rubber on the bottom, they'll reduce your range of motion ~1/2" or so from wearing the chucks. It was enough that I noticed a difference in my pull -great on meet day. Good luck! Remember not to drop the weight in competition!

I think it depends upon who you lift for. I lift raw, but am allowed wrist straps, belt etc... From my understanding, equipped typically refers to suits, shirts etc..

raw means you can use knee sleeves (not wraps). wrist wraps, and a belt. at least in the USAPL

some federations allow you to use knee wraps

so you can use the wraps which take away from necessity of grip strength? i use the words wraps and straps interchangably for those things

no. Wrist wraps brace your wrists to prevent wrist injuries. Wrist straps allow you to hold onto the bar and wrap around the bar and secure to your wrist. Wrist wraps are allowed. Wrist straps are not. They are not the same thing by any means.

I know theyre not but I use the words interchanably only I said..and thank you for answering the question

That's nuts..I keep telling myself I'll stpo using straps for 315 reppin out but the bar at my gym is literally sharp..the grip is like one of the roughest ever so when it slips you end up dropping the weight just cause you can't hold it =/ or maybe thats just me

Where can I get some chalk? I know where to get the bowling sacs of it (I used to bowl in high school varisty letter waddup).

And some gyms don't allow chalk..but they can go eff themself haha
