6 Week Fat Loss Challenge

Oh, and anyone that doesn't have a Fitbit or the like... You need one! The data I get from my band is invaluable. Is the data perfect? No. But it's a darn good tool to measure how hard I work every day. It also gives me total calories burned not only for the workout, but my whole day. It's so easy, then, to log my food into MFP and do the simple math. Subtracting out my workouts, it's also easy to see that I burn 2200/day just existing.

Did another 11 mile run on the Treadmill this morning, and My calorie intake for toady will be 2000. Tomorrow will be chest/back and calorie intake will be 1100..

Have everyone thought about, what's going to happen after they reach there weight loss goals? I know it's hard and the struggle is real when losing weight, gaining muscle and Strength, but it's also hard to maintain those goals..

Put up my before and after shots for you.

Noodz!!

15 more pounds or so to lose.
I think that would bring me in at 15%. Body fat.

I'm going to see If I can lean bulk but my focus is on tightening this loose skin. :)

No Sir, just focusing on getting there! Then Ill worry about it

Personally, my plan is to up my cals to maintenance and continue working out exactly as I am. That should wind up being a "lean bulk"

For me, it's all about reaching a reasonable level that I can live with day in and day out.

Well a little shaky today guys. Diet is fine, but the workout was no bueno. Working the 2nd 24 in a row and at my part time fire department. Not much to chose from here, seriously limited. BUT, I took my Powermax XT and 2 Epidrone and was ready....had to run a wreck. Just about took my mojo. But had a police officer buddy come by and ask me to show him a few things so we did a bit of back. 1 new PR on BB rows and attempted 405x5 on deadlifts. No go. Just got 2. Videoed it but its rough so not sure Ill post it. But here's the session
Wide angle grip Pull Ups
Body weight x 10

High Face Pull
140x10
160x10
180x10

Bent over Barbell Rows
135x10
225x10
265x10(straps) New PR

Deadlifts
135x15
225x10x2
405x2...fail. Tried for 5. Oh well

Wide Grip Lat pull downs
180x10x3

This is a really great question. As Firetitan said, my goal right now is getting there but I have thought about it. And honestly, I want to incorporate a lot of what I've learned into daily life forever. Regular exercise, increase calories burned beyond a sedentary level, track diet and eat around maintenance for a while and then slowly increase calories by maybe 200 calories over maintenance to put on some muscle.

MrKleen73 said this to me in a PM discussion and gave me permission to quote it. I think it's pertinent and smart:

"The metabolism is indeed a very resilient function and true damage is not as likely as most people believe. However there is DEFINITELY something to be said about a properly structured reverse diet and the benefits it can have on your metabolism. My average caloric intake has been about 700-1000 cals higher than it used to be simply from training my metabolism to be more efficient at nutrient handling. You could easily get your BMR up over and above 2200-2500 with a structured reverse diet. Main key is to reintroduce carbs first and keeps fats relatively low while doing so.

The idea you want to be thinking about is not is the metabolic damage as real as people say. It is simply not as prevalent as most say. Instead as a physique goal based individual the question you should be asking is this. "Is there a better or more efficient way for me to reach my goals." Increasing metabolism does this for you and allows you to still build muscle while staying lean. It is a very different mindset, and one as a former fatty I had a very hard time grasping as I became afraid of food and what it normally does to me when not controlled instead of simply using it as a tool.

The other reason for the reverse diet is that the body is looking to rebound so like you mentioned if you jump right back into 2200-2500 cals a day right now you would start adding fat almost immediately. You do it correctly though and you can gain a lot of good muscle on that rebound while bolstering your metabolism."

I will take any wins I can get. Haha

I like that everyone isn't totally wigging out over a cheat meal. I have heard the mental part us the toughest. The ability to compartmentalize the unplanned cheat meal will go a long way towards your success. Being able to accept how things are and take ownership will be very helpful on your journe

Yes. I think a cheat meal happens you just own it and move on. The thing is, a diet is all mental and with practice you get better. I still have a hard time going a week without a cheat. But at some point you have to keep it in check and make sure your diet doesn't just suck because you have a cheat meal every day. We've all been there...I guarantee everyone in this thread has had a period where they dieted and wound up not dieting at all. But this is also a challenge. I've been killing myself with cardio and most days I eat 800 calories and I still don't think I will lose the 18 at this point ...it's a lofty goal.

This is the wreck that screwed my day up! Invalid Link Removed

That's when you get out the car, look at the car, then at the friend And say, "F#ck it. Let's go bowling."

Youre lucky man. I cant tell you how many passengers Ive pulled out of cars dead because their "buddies" were stupid. And it seems like the drivers are always ok. I had lne a few years back, 2 teenagers, boyfriend and girlfriend trying to get back to work. He lost control in a S curve, hot a guide wire and went airborne slamming the roof into A telephone pole. The car was so bad we didnt even see her in the passenger seat. Her head (gruesome warning) literally imploded. The boyfriend was driving and had very minor injuries. I had to get her out.

Sorry to hear that. I did some stupid sh1t on those roads where you are back in the day, including taking a 90 degree turn at 60 mph without hitting the breaks to see if my A6 could do it...every young driver is lucky to make it into adulthood....

Yes sir. Makes me so nervous since my son will have a license in February. I actually share my calls with him, in the hopes it will scare him to be safe. Now that he's involved with the fire department he gets to see it first hand

My best friends brother died a few years ago when his idiot friend hit a tree head-on and the keg on his lap crushed him

Sorry man, I hate that. I think the worst thing Ive had to do was when I was a civilian firefighter in Iraq. We had this thing called Blackwatch. When the US Military (keep in mind Im a Veteran from a family of veterans) would get hit with IEDs and they'd lose their guys, theyd bring us the vehicle to clean the blood, and whatever else was left from the soldier(s) in the vehicle. Truly difficult

I can only imagine and one of the reasons I appreciate your service. Doing stuff most men can't or won't

Sorry to hear this too. Life is so full of tragedy. All we can do is carry the torch I guess.

I can't even clean puke out of the car. That's a wife duty.

Respect, sir.

Puke!? Why would you have puke in your car? I can't even clean receipts out of my car...girlfriend has to do it, haha.

Children puke. And it smells horrid.

PS - the dyes used to color skittles will permanently stain carpet and seatbelts.

PPS - don't let your kid have the whole bag of skittles in the car. They'll shove too many in their mouth.
