hey guys as some of you know im doing a cycle of sdrol.

just a quick q's
is it worthwhile to wake up half way through my sleep to down a protein shake. or am i disturbing my natural test and growth hormone production?

I've gone that route before and can't say for sure that it helped. I think the solid sleep would help much more. Just do a casein shake before bed or some cottage cheese to hold you over.

yeh i always have a shake before bed along with 2 slices of whole grain brown bread, but which is better a good night sleep with no disturbances? or a shake halfway through to stop your body going into more of a catbolic state?

I'd say drink one if you happen to wake up in the night and you feel hungry. For me personally, I can't sleep with a growling stomache, lol, drives me crazy, I gotta have a somewhat full stomache to really crash good

Don't bother. I agree with the cottage cheese b4 bed that's what I do.

i think a good casien shake or cottage cheese like unrealmachine said would be great, i think quailty sleep would be way more important to recovery an growth than a shake in the middle of the night.

i do a middle of the night shake....i dont really time it though....usually after sleeping for about 4 hours i gotta pee....i just have some procomplex mixed up chillin in the fridge...pound that and back to bed....

hmm thats no a bad idea by mooch. everyone i can think of gets up to pee lol. i just hit the cottage cheese since it has casien in it. but the "pee shake" isnt a bad idea!!

The caesin shakes, cottage cheese, and middle of the night shakes all cause an insulin release which negates any GH release while sleeping. The GH release helps with you rebuilding/repairing during sleep.

I say if u can sleep through the night, do it. If you happen to wake up and have to pee, i saw keep some bcaa pills in the bathroom and down a serving of those and back to bed.

growth hormone is released during rem sleep....so if your in a deep sleep for four hours and wake up and pee then go back to bed your not gonna be secreting too much more....imo staying anabolic would be more important at this point....

I always just hook myself up to an IV drip of Cassien Protein and the. I don't have to worry about getting if I go that route! :).

In my opinion I think it would depend on how long it is going to take you to get back to sleep. If you can quickly down a prepared shake like Mooch said and get right back to sleep, sweet. However, if you are going to go to the kitchen, mix it up, drink it, rinse the cup, walk back to the bedroom, squeeze one off, ect. I would just go for the sleep.

I think it is better to have solid sleep. Sometimes I do wake up in the middle of the night and will eat a few spoon full of cottage cheese. I would say do it if you are hungry, if not just sleep til morning.

Ive done the same with some natty yoghurt, casein, glut, mono, pb and a little oatmeal sitting in the fridge when Im bulking - it's about 6-8 desert spoons worth - not enough to load you up, but at least fill a gap before a 4am workout

There is Non REM Sleep and there is REM sleep (Random Eye Movement).

In Non REM Sleep there are 4 stages you're body releases GH in Stage four. You cycle back to stage 2 after stage 4 is done. You do this maybe 2 to 3 times and then you hit REM which is where you dream and remember you dreams. You dream in all stages but you are most likely to remember it in REM. Your body recovers the most in STAGE 4 of NON REM Sleep.

I vote cottage cheese before you go to bed. If you happen to wake up, pound a shake. Screw waking up just to drink a shake......
