45y/o Lifter with questions

Good morning all,
Life changes now 45 out of the gym for about 16 years weight ballooned up to 340. Two foot surgeries this year and I've had enough. I got back to the gym this past November, I'm down to 315 eating very clean, very slight calorie deficit. Training has been 5/3/1, just the basic program with metcon, and lots of foam rolling to increase my mobility. I felt like a blob of frozen **** that couldn't move, bend over etc. I'm still a fat **** but I've got the discipline to get my ass to the gym 6 days a week.

My macros are roughly 50/30/20 protein/fat/carbs. How long can I run a deficit and continue to increase strength and muscle size?
Current supps: krill oil, multi, psyllium, maca, creatine, beta alanine, tribulus, and zma

My bp is high 140/70 avg and I also take a med for anxiety. Is there a safe protocol for pH that I could slowly incorporate?

This is a long narrow road I'm following and my end game is to beat all my previous PB's from my past, most important to me is
1. Bodyweight of 205
2. Strength PB bench/squat/DL/press/ 350/405/495/225
3. Muscle size/mobility

I appreciate any and all suggestions, thanks

Sorry, this was the top of my post, not sure why it got cut out.

Good morning all,
Been refreshing and learning a bunch from these awesome forums for a couple weeks now. I trained heavy in my twenties and tried just about all forms of natural supps that were available in the 90's. I did try one of the early PH around the time Mark McGuire was smashing the home runs, nor andro something. I was a lean, and strong 6'2" 209 9bf% at my best.

Your best bet is to keep dieting and hitting the gym.
I wouldn't advise you to jump on any hormonals at this time

Thanks for replying, I'm in no rush. Based on where I'm at I thought it might be too soon to consider adding a PH. Is there anything in the fat loss category that could assist me along the way that is legit?

I have a few friends who have used Roxy by Bpi , rsp quadralean, there are an abundance of good fat burners out there really.

Thx man, I had really good results from Ripped Fuel way back then. Is caffeine/ephedra still the way to go?

Be patient if it took 16 years to put on it'll take a while to take off . Congrats on getting back to the gym

Congratulations on figuring it out before it was too late! There are more Former Fat Guys on here than you would imagine, so you're in good company.

When I was in your shoes, I didn't give 2 shyts about strength or gaining muscle. I just wanted to lose weight. You can do the same thing. You're already headed that way, just keep it up. Watch your diet, get plenty of exercise, just keep working it. You'll get it, and when you get down around 200, then start thinking about a PH, if you decide you still want to.

If that's what you're in to. There's also a lot of very good stimulant free fat burners out there

Also congrats on finding your way here this is by far the most helpful forum on the net

I was tempted to go the Heisenburg route but decided on the Quadralean. I'm gonna start on Thursday, will let you know how it works over the next month.

everything has a reason young peter- and yes avi up

Take some cayenne caps and try some yohimbine hcl during a fasted workout or hiit cardio as long as your burning more calories than you consume and assuming your thyroid is up to par you'll lose weight watch BP if you take yohimbine can affect it but the cayenne has noted affect on reducing BP. Proven even 1 gram can stop a heart attack in its tracks in about 15 min! Good luck ps..most fat burning sups are stimulant based so careful with the BP

Morning all, 4 days since I started the quadralean. Weighed in at 311 this morning. Surgeon gave me the go ahead to ride the stationary bike so I finally got to add 20 minutes of interval cardio. 5/3/1 continues, lifts still going up each week. Diet discipline maintained. Burp. Acid reflux sucks.

Have you had a hormone blood panel. If not you really need to. Unfortunately with your blood pressure you have to be careful with any hormones but if you have low T your really making it way harder to lose weight.

Quick update and a couple questions. Current weight is 310. My workout routine has been consistent. 20 minutes of fasted(15 hrs) cardio followed by weights depending on the day. I've been really enjoying the quadralean especially during the sprints. My BP has been consistent at 120-125/80 the last two times I checked and confirmed today at the docs. Strength continues to improve. Diet and macros consistent with goals with one cheat day.

So after discussing my concerns about libido, energy, slow fat loss, etc doc decides to prescribe Viagra. Great but I want to know where my hormone levels are. He ordered bloodwork, total/free test. I asked for T3, T4, and estrogen he said let's wait and see before we look into the others. Maybe its just me but why wouldn't he just have it all done at once? Healthcare protocol maybe. Any way that gets done first thing tomorrow morning.

So my first question is what do you guys think of adding mesomorph to the quadralean in the morning. Would adding carbs with the mesomorph improve overall results for my fat loss goal?

Second question, would adding CEL Mtest help or hurt me at this point in my training?

Thanks for any feedback.

During the next appointment be very pushy. It's your health not the doctors. If they was already doing a blood hormone panel they should have checked everything. Doctors KILL me.. 90% of the time it's a one size fits all with them. Have to be very pushy.. I'm surprised they was willing to do free test most only do a total. (By most I mean in my experience of course lol) but glad you're getting somewhere!

hi,

I have never used Meso- not in the profile of the product

Mtest- yes imho it might help. I think this is a better sup for older guys 35 and over. I would split the dose and then experiment on the timing.

quadralean- haven't used that either but my thoughts on fat burners for older guys- they should be cycled, 1/2 amount of time off as time on. Why? as you get older, it becomes harder to lose and gain wgt. Even get rid of stubborn areas. Fat burns are good for assisting to help get that extra edge, but if your body becomes to dependent, it will become harder to achieve what you are looking to do.

Keto and fasting, again is good, but at some point you have to mix it back up. there is only so much fat that will be burned during exercise before your body become catabolic. if you don't have the fasting down to a "T" you are doing more harm then good.

Spoke with the nurse this morning to get results. Doc hasn't reviewed them yet. I would like some feedback from you all before I speak with him about what he thinks. Here is what he ordered and the results.

TSH: 2.39
Total Test: 217
Free Test: 52.6
Bio avail: 101.3

Her comments were limited but said TSH was normal, total slightly low, and free low normal. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
