41 and loosing the battle

Monday morning weigh in at work was delayed until this morning. I came in at 233.6 which is a drop of a few more pounds.

Weight seems to be coming off a lot slower than it used to.

Ground chicken and salsa were the main meals of the day. Picked up some plain salad to store in my fridge at work.

Have been off from soda for over a week now. Mucho water with Crystal Light in it.

Back and Biceps this morning. Pain in right shoulder started about 10 minutes into back work.

Was able to get in about 30 minutes of cardio

Received a call this afternoon that the paperwork from the physical showed up at the clinic. They are waiting on the bloodwork results and expect them to be in tomorrow or Thursday.

Still nothing on the blood work that was done.

Chest and Tri's this morning. Plus 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Did another 30 on the treadmill when I got home from work.

Feeling better.

Results are in:

Cholesterol - 243
HDL - 34
LDL - 173
Triglycerides - 182

Testosterone - 443
Estradiol - 34
IGF - 280

Was also told that my Hemotocrit was high (53.5) and I need to donate some blood.

RickM- I'm not an expert other than I have been through this. With these cholesterol and triglycerides numbers my approach would be to focus in on diet and exercise immediately (which you have started), see if you can get these down to healthy levels without drugs. With the fitness and fat loss that will result from that effort your other complaints may disappear.

Did the lab give you their range for the test value? And did they get a free test value?

Both estradiol and IGF-1 look great.

I agree on exercise being the number one way for me to get the cholesterol and triglycerides down. I have been able to lower them in the past, but I was younger and it didn't matter that much to me. Now I have reached an age where those numbers mean much more.

Niacin was also used in my past to help lower those levels. I will probably be starting back on some this weekend.

Clinic said they would like to get my Testosterone up to around 800-900.

Didn't get Free Testosterone levels. Waiting to hear back from the clinic on a few questions I have

yeahright 1) Cut out the diet sodas. There are studies which show that consumers of diet soda actually gain weight. [B said:

Doesn't mean that diet soda CAUSES weight gain. The likely explanation is that people often mistake diet drinks for diets and so those types are the ones who are drinking diet soda and still eating too much.

Swicthing over to water with crystal light just has me drinking more water. More water = more exercise as I have to keep walking to the bathroom :-)

Dear RickM,

I like to supplement my diet(not always as good as it should be) with:

at least 500mg. vitamin C(Linus Pauling recommends much more and he's in his 90's with mind intact). This also has something to do with collagan synthesis, the glue that holds our bodies together.Could help us avoid injuries possibly.

400IU vitamin E EOD (good for heart, prostate, thins out the blood, ect.)

50mg. CoQ10

50mg.B-Complex w/extra folic acid(FDA limits amount of folic acid allowable per tablet/cap,you need more)

A mineral complex of some kind. (calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, molybenum, ect.make sure your getting zinc ED)Zinc has been shown to be a natural AI.

Some sort of adaptogen ED eg.rhodiola, ginseng(many types)

This is a base to start from, not sure if you supplemented or not,but you did mention niacin.

Take care youngster.

PS anybody know what the "remove text formatting" does in the reply box?

My regular supplements are:

- Fiber Pills
- Multi Vitamin
- C (2000 mg)
- Folic Acid

I added HMB and Creatine two weeks ago.

How much folic acid if I may ask?

You would not believe how important folic acid is in cardio health, not to mention in DNA synthesis in the body.It has something to do with lowering some biomarker in the body for heart disease.Homocystiene levels maybe? Please someone help me out.

Take care RickM.

Correlation isn't causation. They found a correlation but the causation is speculative. Your speculation is one possible answer. Authors of the study speculate that the combination of ingesting something which tastes like it is high calories but not delivering them triggers the body into sensing a caloric deficiency (the dissonance between expected and experienced calories)....but who knows?

Since the correlation is well establsihed it seems prudent advice to avoid diet sodas regardless of the causative mechanism.

I am taking 800mcg per day. However, dont go by what I am taking.

If you were my close friend then I would not be recommending HRT for you yet. I don't see HGH or thyroid levels in this post.

Your thyroid levels are likely low.

Testosterone treatment is something once you start you should stay on forever more.

I would start you on PGH-T to raise you HGH levels. It raises testosterone and more importantly your thyroid levels. If taken on a 5 days on and 2 off schedule is good for about 1.5 pounds a week of weight loss. You need to skip every 5th week or the weight loss help stops. Might help heal your joints some too. Why are you having so many joint problems?

Taking 1 Rebound Reloaded a day will raise your natural testosterone output about 40 to 50%. The lowering of estrogen will also decrease tendency to store fat. Your balls will actually get bigger instead of having to worring about them shrinking.

A step further is going to a NHA stack of 2 Rebound Reloaded and 6 to 8 ActivaTE. This will double your natural testosterone and thriple your free testosterone (the muscle growing stuff). NHA stack is usually only recommended for about 8 weeks.

Get some Cissus Rx for those joints. Now!

Also think about some Celadrin for lube.

Good luck

PS: you should be posting in the Male Anti Aging Medicine forum

I checked out the Cissus Rx and read that you shouldnt take it if you are taking High Blood Pressure meds. So, that leaves me out of the picture right now.

Went to my primary doc this morning to discuss the high Hemotocrit level, and he wants to see the actual results. I will need to get those from the clinic. Then he changed my Blood Pressure med to Benicar which isnt a beta-blocker like the Atenalol I have been on. I need to follow up with him when I have the blood work papers.

Hopefully I will get the blood work results faxed to me tomorrow.

I started a thread in the Male Anti Aging Medicine forum yesterday.

Thats very interesting...hmmmm...the dissonance between expected and experienced calories.

It reminds me of a study I once saw where people would chew avocado or something high in fats, let it stay in their mouth for a bit and than spit it out. The researchers found that the participants cholesteral numbers surprisingly increased at the same rate as if they had actually injested all that fat.

I have to watch my blood pressure and have not noticed cissus raising my blood pressure. PGH-T will actually lower blood pressure which could be part of the reason.

Okay, I will give the Cissus Rx a shot.

Fairly new to this site, so... is there someone on the boards I can pick it up from, or should I just use one of the sites I find when I did a google search?

Most of sponsor stores have it. Very Popular. I have taken up to 12 a day, but start lower and see how you react to it.

I am checking some of the sponsor stores right now.

12 a day...... seems like a lot to be taking.

Just purchased two bottles to try out.

Thanks again

I've taken cissus and noticed a diuretic effect from it which would lower blood pressure. Thus taking blood pressure medication with it could be additive possibly causing too much lowering of blood pressure.Only a theory tho.

Now that I think of it I heard cissus is a glucocorticoid(?) antagonist.Corticoids generally cause edema(moon face, ect) and this diuretic effect would fit in to this description.

With the switch of blood pressure meds last weekend, I have noticed my range to be around 138/80. So many changes recently, not sure which is making my BP higher.

Now that I think of it, when I was at the blood center they asked me if I sprinted there because my pulse was so high. When I checked by BP/Pulse today at work, my pulse said 90. When I was on the treadmill it read 127, and normally it is around 115. Seems like that is rising.

Will be watching it daily to see where it goes.

Updates RICK....PLEASE.

I know... I could have at least provided a few updates now and then.

As of Thursday my weight is at 230 and bodyfat is still around 35% according to the scale.

Doc had me stop the Nandro/Test, drop the Nandro Gel, and start up on just the Test Cream I already had, along with HCG every two days.

I have felt a little on the depressed side the past two months. Sick a few times, personal things, and coming off the NandroTest :-)

24 hour urine test within a few weeks.

Let's see... also attempting to start up on B-12 shots twice per week for a little boost.

The workouts have been going well. Increased weight, noticing more changes in the body, and still need some pics.

Thats all for now!

Rick,where are you?
You must be having such a blast you forgot about us!

Wish I was having a blast. All in all I was bummed out for awhile and I am getting back on track.

Small changes make big differences over time. Keep at it.

Yup, small changes do add up over time.

Changing eating habits.

Went our to dinner last night at a local seafood place.

- two drinks
- grilled chicken ceasar salad
- side order of grilled chicken breast

This morning I ordered an omlette with green peppers, onion and tomoato. It comes with some side things but I asked how much to drop the sides and add another omlette or a few eggs.

Snacks while watching tv

oranges
hard boiled egg whites

Just got back from shopping.

8 sweet potatoes
some lean steak
chicken breasts
small pre-cooked chicken
36 eggs

Nice to have a Chinese take out place within a few miles that offers steamed chicken and vegetables. Nothing else added.

Sort of a bland diet, but I am trying.

Weekends are usually the time when I eat out a lot. I have to really try to get it in my head to order a salad first and then some type of meat to go with it. It isnt easy after years of eating garbage...

Last night I ordered a large garden salad and an order of chicken strips.

Morning weigh in was teetering around 229/230 and stopped at 230 and 33%.

I also switched my fiber pills and it feels like I am full. The old fiber just.. well.. made me very regular. The new ones seem to make me feel pretty full. Not sure that I like that or not. Being full means I cit back on my meals today = not enough calories = not what I want.

No weights today. Stuck with 30 minutes of cardio at lunch.

Received my urine test kit, so I need to get that done soon to see where my levels are at.

Ahhhh... feel good today
