28 day Velocity Diet Log

I'm on day 7 today and I need to run out for more protein as it was a spur of the moment decision to hop on this. Feeling good so far, I need to get some casein as well because I haven't had it yet so Ive been double scooping the regular protein I intend to do a 50/50 once i get the casein. I have all of the other supps though so it shouldn't be too big a hit on the wallet.

im going today after work to grab some should have added it to my no order but i forgot. so i will go to a local gym by me that has a supply shop that isn't over priced.

So I've decided to stick it out and go with the last week of the diet. I'm trying to find a BodPod to get my bf% tested to get an idea what I've come down to. I've noticed increased vascularity in my arms and my pants continue getting looser. I'll be doing my final measurement Saturday morning before my meal to prevent any water gain from carbs.

im excited to see the results... as soon as i get some money im runnin this... whad ya think of that awesome weather yesterday bro... damn im ready for spring

Actually I'm kinda bummed about the weather. I'd rather it gradually get warmer than have these 55 degree days and then drop back down to the 30s. And then today...rain?! In february?!? My body is all messed up. I was freezing cold last night and then sweating my ass off on the way to class today. I don't get it.

ha im lovin it... i was all wearing a t-shirt and what not yesterday... if i wasnt helping my buddy move i would have taken my crotch rocket out. even today im ok with this temp... rain not so much but it is really nice to be able to starting running outside again... helps my motivation

I could be imaging **** but i feel like you shoulders are a bit more defined as well like you lost a little fat there, like you can see where the shoulder muscle attaches to the back instead of before where it was a smooth line

or maybe its just the flat brim gangsta hat.... haahah jk!

im on day 8 of this today...no weight loss yet hope i see some soon. i hope i dont do this and see zero results, 20 days to go.

Yeah, I straight thug it haha. I noticed the shoulders too, but more so in the front shot. It looked like the shape between the bottom of the delt and the bicep became more defined.

If you haven't lost any weight in 8 days on this diet, you're doing something wrong. Are you coming from a low carb/CKD diet or a normal one?

i was on a low carb ckd diet then got off track then superbowl really was bad so i decided to do this to get back into that "mode" and then return to either a ckd/low carb or a more traditional split type diet.

Final measurements are in, pictures to follow:

Waist before 38"
Waist after 34.8"
change = 3.2"
Weight before 212
Weight after 196
change = 16lbs

I'll keep up with the log for another 2 weeks or so to see how I change after the transition. Obviously this diet sucks if I gain back most of the weight or really if I gain back the inches.

Are you saying you lost 16lbs? You went from 0lbs lost at 8 days to a loss of 16 by day 28? I'm here to encourage, not to critique, but I'd be suspicious of a 16lbs loss in 20 days.

Assuming the loss of 16lbs was pure adipose, my suggestion to not rebound is to maybe ease yourself off of the Velocity. After reading what it was, your metabolism can't be in the greatest shape if you've been ingesting mostly protein shakes as oppose to solid foods for so many days. Especially if your body has eased back on metabolites such as amylase, protease and lipase out of lack of necessity in response to the lowered demand of solid macro breakdowns.

Velocity sounds like a Dennis Rodman rebound waiting to happen if you go from Velocity straight back to all solids.

at 8 days I had already lost 7lbs or so. I assume most was glycogen and water. I'm not sure where you got 0lbs at 8 days, maybe from ticco? I started on 1/16 at 212-213 lbs. I weighed myself today, and came in 16lbs down, at 196.

Also, it is a transition back into solid foods. I'll be having 3 of my 6 meals a day as solid, and 3 shakes. Still keeping the carbs somewhat low, but not nonexistent. The only grains I'll be eating will be quinoa and oatmeal. Maybe a bit of whole wheat pasta every 4-5 days or so, but nothing ridiculous.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with the metabolites either. Amylase, protease and lipase are general terms for enzymes that break down carbs, proteins and lipids respectively. I've been consuming protein and plenty of fat and I've been having a shake with 50ish g of carbs 3x a week so there shouldn't be any significant downregulation of the enzymatic systems.

Almost all enzymes are proteins. Different enzymes determine different metabolic processes and are up/downregulated in the liver and other parts of the body.

50g carbs three times per week is not much. I personally do the keto diet few times a year, and I stay at around 20-25g of carbs/day for a while. Your body needs about 30grams of glucose every day. If it does not get it from diet it will create it's own by breaking down proteins. Having only 3 shakes a week will almost definitely cause down-regulation.

It's better to slowly let your body adjust. Take one of those shakes in the morning and then continue on the fat diet throughout the day. Then take another shake in the evening and slowly start adding carbs.

Then I must have read the wrong article on Velocity diets. I read it as replacing "MOST" of your meals with protein shakes, which then made me raise an eyebrow at the consequential response of replacing solids with liquids.

My 2c from experience: The way I eased off the V diet was adding solid meals one day at a time, specifically in the evening so I could eat with everyone else at home. I went for a few weeks eating one or two solid meals a day, the rest were liquid. Eventually I replaced one or two more.
Yesterday was the first time since December that I had all solid meals in one day - no shakes. Part of it was due to my body not feeling the same with solid foods, part was me wanting to maintain the fat loss. So far so good.

Is this much of an extreme transition necessary?

Im on the v-diet right now, planning on about 2 weeks or so. But afterwards im planning to really only give myself a bout a week to get back to a normal diet.

Figure id replace 1 meal every 2 days, making sure they were smart choices of course and only incrimenting my calories slightly each 2 day block. Obviously ill gain a pound or two back, but this seems like a decent medium to me. thoughts?

I'm doing 3 solid, 3 liquid a day for the week. My total calories are only going up by 200-300 from what I was at. Next week I'll bump up another 200-300. I'm working out more and harder now so the extra calorie jump shouldn't be too bad.

Good good. I just got back from San Jose for a little spring break where I pretty much ate what I wanted and i'm only .5" higher in the waist than I was after the v-diet so its holding up well. It does feel good to be able to have carb fueled workouts. I couldn't handle the lack of intensity in my opinion on carb free workouts.

I've also hit up that 100 day pushup challenge. Rough, thats for sure. When combined with a westside style lifting 4x a week and 2-3 conditioning days, the pullups suck. I'll have some new pics up in a week probably, track the progress I've made since my new workouts.

Where you at in Wisco?

Good **** brotha! Next time you go on vacation take me with!

I live over by West Bend if you know where that is... about 30 min north of milwaukee and 30 min south of Fond Du Lac

Just make sure you get enough fats. Thats what killed my mood and libido but I was fine when I started eating bacon and eggs nearly every morning.
