2017 NFL Draft & Season Chat Thread

35-24 was a good guess was off by 2 points on the final haha
34-23 ATL over GB ... Rodgers had to throw it 50 times.. He had great pass protection even with 2 brand new tackles, and having his main WR go out.

2017 NFL Draft & Season Chat Thread

I don't follow their offseason as closely as I am sure you do, but I expected them to be the best team in the division this year with some of the offensive changes they had.

I expected to go 6-10. Offensive line is the worst in the league by far. Play calling is atrocious and vanilla. Coaches are stubborn on offense. And defense won't carry the team this year.

You took the words out of my mouth. It is nearly impossible for you guys to run the ball. Putting the game on Eli's shoulders every game will be hard with an 80% OBJ (your best WR). I mean not as bad as the jets or browns, but it is up there..

Who do you think the Giants should draft in the upcoming draft besides some OL?

Putting the game on Eli's shoulder is fine. We rarely have a good running game. However, Eli is aging, declining, and not athletic. He's a prototypical pocket passer. You can't put the game on him AND let him face pressure nearly every snap for the last three years.

Honestly, we are pretty solid everywhere except OL. We could use some depth, but BJ Goodson looks like a true 3 down MLB. Kennard is a good SLB. We could use a WLB and possibly FS/CB depending on how Apple and Thompson progress this season.

Ideally, we go something like LT, LB/RB, OG, CB/DE, WR/LB/RB, RT/OG

However, we will probably something like: WR, TE, DT, CB, trade up for an OT that doesn't make roster, RB. You know, because another year will really help this OL gel

Sounds like the browns... except they draft a QB First round every year.. cause you know.. Cleveland.. haha
How much longer do you see Eli being around the league?

Depends on his line. If he keeps getting nailed 17 times a game probably a year or two. If he can score some protection I could see four to five.

I get why we ignored OL this offseason. OL prices skyrocketed because it was a weak draft, but Reese has to do something. Above average players were getting elite player money. That's how you get into salary cap hell. But at the same time, you can't constantly ignore your teams biggest weakness. Reese has a history of letting one spot of the roster decline and not have any developing players in the wings. His drafts have been a lot better lately because he stopped gambling so much.

McAdoo needs to give up play calling and learn to scheme around the rosters deficiencies. Bench Flowers. Start Wheeler. Bench Jerry. Start Fluker or Jones. Something has to change.

Darkwa has outplayed Perkins but Perkins still gets all the snaps. Maddening.

I agree mcadoo needs to focus more on getting his team gelling together and fired up to play football. They look lifeless out there apart from obj trying to spark the team at 75% health. Brandon freaking Marshall looks atrocious unfortunately. Thought he could be a solid asset to this squad.

I dont know why everyone is making excuses for obj. When you saw him out there he was running, cutting, pivoting at 100%. He wasnt limited by that ankle when he was on the field, at least from where I sat and watched behind my TV. The ankle didnt make him drop passes, that's for certain.

How does all the hate keep falling onto Eli when the OL is atrocious and i can think of 3 critical drops by the Giants receivers off the top of my head? Bmarsh dropped a 30 yard gain, obj dropped the one potential fourth down conversion, and Engram (although the safety made a good play on the ball) dropped a fourth down conversion at the 2 yard line. Tough being Eli these days.

Obj played less than 30% of the snaps I think, so to think he is at 100% would be a little silly as he wasn't out there for potential big plays much at all. Also, played with his ankle taped the first time in his life. Regardless of who you are, it does make a difference on feel and cuts when not used to it. I do though think he is fine and they were just getting him some game action. Should definitely have no excuses next week considering there appears to be no set backs.

Agree no excuse for the drop, but wasn't a simple pass. More excuse than Brandon 'shell of himself' Marshall. Lol.

Ah, i guess i didnt realize he played that few of snaps (see edit below). I still think when I saw him out there and they replayed him running routs he was planting, cutting, sprinting, etc without any obvious difficulty or hindrance. I just get sick of athletes making so many damn excuses when they play like **** lol. And yah, i dont know what the hell is going on with Marshall. I was mad when my buddy drafted him 1 pick ahead of me in my fantasy draft, but it appears he did me a huge favor lol.

Edit: i just saw on ESPN he was on the field for 61% of their offensive snaps.

Cowboys got punished. Love how JG layed all the blame on Dak, real classy. Romo choked weakly and JG never said a thing about him, the more I look at it JG needs to go.

Fantasy focus podcast was way off then lol, my bad

Well, ****. Here I was hoping you had vanished into obscurity for good. Guess not.

Also, I would love to know what you are talking about.

Jason Garrett said:
"If you get a chance, go back and watch the tape of No. 4,'' Garrett said at his Monday afternoon news conference. "No. 4 is a special player.

"It was not an easy game for him. Got knocked around a little bit, got banged up early. And talk about a guy who battles. Talk about a guy who fights. Talk about a guy who leads the team under adversity, under duress.

"It was special.''

"I have no real concern about him responding the right way,'' Garrett said. "Just go back and watch the game. Watch how he stands in the pocket, climbs the pocket after he's gotten hit, throws the ball under duress, delivers the ball down the field again and again and again.

"Watch the run up their sideline late in the game, where he takes the guy and hits and rolls and spins and makes 12 yards to get us down to a fourth-and-manageable situation. Just watch how he plays. Watch the intensity he plays with, the fight he plays with. It's contagious.

"He did a hell of a job.''

Dang that's some faith in the rams! Lol.

I think 20-14 :)

The only thing of interest for me is if Carlos Hyde can continue that hot rushing streak he had vs the Seahawks. I still see them losing 17-9 even if he does rush for 150. SF just isn't very good.

Yeah I don't think he continues to average 7 ypc

I severely misjudged the Niners. That was a great comeback attempt.

I think the game shown how both teams are pretty bad compared to pretty good. Regardless the shootout was really fun. Ya never know whether the teams are good or not in those kind of games lol

I never bet. This is the guy who went to Vegas and did not gamble. No interest in it to be honest.

I'm there with you...have been to AC plenty of times, and have never put anything down...got into the Draft Kings thing a couple years back, but then they banned it in my state...

Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham expected to play despite questionable tag
Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola expect to play against Texans
Saints' Marshon Lattimore (concussion), Sterling Moore (chest) out Sunday vs. Panthers

Really excited for the Atlanta Detroit game. I think Atlanta will probably win if I was a betting man, but as a die hard Detroit fan, I would like to see them keep it close the game rather than be down like 21-0 at half. They have some momentum and Stafford has looked pretty good. Really excited

I think Oakland Washington will be the highest scoring game this week (except maybe that Thursday matchup.. Holy)

As a Jags fan, I'm not looking forward to playing that Ravens defense...

1. Stack the box
2. Make Bortles throw
3. Interception!

John Harbaugh, PM me for where to send payment.

The Jags are... hard to predict, apparently. Lol.

Cam Struggles as NO Picks up a win with 3 picks.
JAX just embarrassed Baltimore in an absolute blowout.
Buffalo with a big W at home vs Denver. Tyrod played well
Minn beat up TB at home pretty well even with Sam Bradford out.
The JETS won! Miami could not find any offense at all and cutler threw it 44 times!
Bears run wild into OT and take away a W at home vs the Steelers
Tom Brady does what he does best and takes home a game winning TD drive to seal the Victory vs Houston
Indy holds on to win vs the browns 31-28. Kizer threw 3 picks
Falcons escape with a W on the road vs Detroit. What an up and down game as Matt Ryan struggled with 3 interceptions.
NY puts up 24 points in the 4th quarter but not enough to win vs the eagles. Eagles escape 27-24
Kareem Hunt runs wild for KC as they run over the rams with a nice W.
Tennessee edges out Seattle for a nice home victory. Seattle played very well on O too with Wilson throwing 4 TD passes.
GB and Cincy head to OT, Rodgers proves time and time again why he is an elite QB. 27-24 Pack come back after trailing all game.

Oakland vs Washington for Sunday night (Picking Oakland)
Cowboys @ Arizona (This will be tough.. Can Dallas Rebound?)

Wow, Washington embarrassed the Raiders tonight.

The Eagles game was wild. Lots of questionable coaching from Pederson; fortunately, McAdoo was worse. Longest kick ever made by a rookie with that 61 yarder. Also, longest made FG in Eagle's franchise history, I think.

O'Brien killed Houston's chance to win in NE. Probably should've gone for it on the 4th and 1, definitely should've called that TO earlier to give them time for more than 1 play.

Detroit got screwed, and that is all I have to say about that.

Ben Roethlisberger: Steelers should have been on field during anthem
Buffalo Bills' Jerry Hughes rebukes Jim Kelly's comments on players kneeling
Dallas Cowboys likely planning unity statement before Monday's game
Ravens coach John Harbaugh doesn't plan on team playing over there any time soon
Odell Beckham Jr. changes explanation for odd TD celebration (in relation to Trump)
Steelers' Alejandro Villanueva has highest-selling gear in past 24 hours (coming out and being only player from the steelers out during national anthem)

Dallas and Arizona tonight.. Will Dallas bounce back? PRIME TIME!

If thats how Ben feels he should have been standing right next to his teammate in the tunnel. I dont mind the kneeling, it is what it is, if thats how you want to express your right to protest then go right ahead. But i think that completely withholding from participating in the anthem is a bit far, especially when you have a teammate who it is obviously important to. I wouldve expected some more steelers to be out there with Alejandro. Interested to see how they manage it next week.

I don't expect the Johnsonless Cardinals to put up much of a fight. They have had poor QB play so far this season, and are without their best player.

Anything can happen in primetime, but a loss to Arizona would speak volumes about the Cowboys this season, I think.

Agreed. For gods sake the colts almost beat the cardinals last week, itd be a terrible loss if dallas found a way to lose tonight.

I hope they do find a way to lose... with Elliot still putting up decent numbers for my fantasy team

Oh, trust me, id love to see the cowboys lose as much as the next guy. Just dont see it happening (unless they're way worse than I thought). Also, Zeke can have all the points, as long as Dak stays under 33....lol.
